Last week was another hell of a week for almost everyone in the league. I don’t know what happened but a few weeks ago everyone’s teams just started going off. Luckily I was able to win the week with a monster 175 points, gain some ground on 1st hop into 2nd place by percentage points and put some separation between myself and my heated 4th place competition for medal contention. Drew Brees finally played like a first round pick getting me my highest point total from any player this year with 33 whole points and Greg Jennings simply went off going 7/152/3 for just shy of 30 points. That certainly made up for Mendenhall having another poor outing. The only crappiness that I can complain of is that I carried 2 Defenses, picked the wrong one and benched 15 freaking points because the Saints couldn’t stop the damn feeble Seahawks. Those 15 points may be crucial because I’m writing this on Sunday morning, we’ve already had 3 Week 12 games on Thanksgiving and I’m already sick. But we’ll save that for next week’s post.
No we won’t. So long medal contention. I hate fantasy football.

To cleanse my mind of week 11 fantasy football thoughts this morning, I figure there’s nothing better than just thinking about week 10 fantasy results. It was a hell of an offensive week for everyone last week. I couldn’t watch the games on TV last week so I missed what was actually going on but I did watch my fantasy app non stop and watch the points just go, go, go. I didn’t have many choices to make for the last week of byes but of course the one choice I did make came back to bite me. Absolutely no one was hype on Matt Cassel last week. I drafted him as my #3 QB and only needed him for 2 bye weeks. For Joe Flacco’s bye week, Cassel did nothing. NOTHING. I’m sure I already griped about that one. So looking at the hate for Cassel filling in for Drew Brees last week, I decided to just drop him and pick up a hyped up David Garrard. It took the entire game, down to the absolute last play of the game, but Garrard actually panned out. I’m pretty sure his 30 points is the highest point total of any of my players in a single week this year. I was pretty relieved I made the decision. Until the Chiefs went down big, forced Cassel to pass and bam! I just watched my fantasy app as I shot myself in the foot in slow motion. When I was doing the numbers in my head, I was sick. I was thinking I sat Cassel and his ~50 point fantasy week. That’s a bad feeling benching 20 points in a heated title chase. Luckily his monster numbers, minus sacks, only equated to me benching like 8 points. However the moral of that story is I just relieved quite a few minutes of week 11 fantasy football anxiety.
Oh, and thank you Brandon Lloyd. Way to outperform the rest of my feeble team. Mendenhall, wtf was up with your team last week? You better bounce back this week. And Cedric Benson, oh Cedric Benson, why don’t you just break something and just completely miss games. You’ll do us all a favor. You are the bane of my fantasy football existence. You are my regret. What a waste of a #3 pick. I’ve had enough of this. I’m going back to week 11. I don’t fly you know. I take the subway like everybody else. Oh, and people don’t stare. You make me puke.

Holy crap. What could possibly make me feel any better about last week’s horrendous fantasy performance? If you said this week’s even more horrendous fall back to Earth, you are correct. This week didn’t make me nearly as sick as last week though because all I can say is rabble, rabble, rabble. Just a bunch of F.U.’s all across the board. “If you can’t start Jonathan Stewart when DeAngelo Williams is out, when can you start him? I’m rolling the dice and benching Cedric Benson.” That’s what I said just a few minutes before the early game’s kickoff. We all thought DeAngelo was out so I put Stewart in on Wednesday. I felt good about it all week and then when they made the DeAngelo call, I started second guessing. I put Benson back in but then switched back about a minute later. Thank heavens it only cost me 6 points. Dude, Jonathan Stewart, WTF. I benched Benson because he hasn’t cracked 12 points in 4 of 6 weeks. In all of your DeAngeloless starts, you averaged 150 yards and a TD. All I was asking for was about 60/1. You got me junk. You’re dead to me. And Cedric. Why do you hit 12 points and just stop? Why is that your mark of success? You get a D for effort.
Matt Cassel… For being Matt Cassel, you’ve been great over the last few weeks. You’ve came close, matched and even beat 1 of my actual good quarterbacks during this stretch. So why now do you choose to suck? Why when I need you the most? Boooooo.
Ryan Torain? You got me 10 points in the first half then leave injured? I’m glad your team imploded and you lost to the Lions. Screw you Redskins.
In the beginning of the season, I was a little worried about bye weeks but not too worried. I did think this was going to be my most troublesome week though. I guess I was right. I tried to make all the right moves but it rarely seems to work out in the end.
I wrote all those previous thoughts during, and after, the 2nd set of games but then it all changed Sunday night. Everything in that game worked out as well as possible. Drew Brees vs the Steelers? Scared me pretty good but it worked out great. My #1 RB, Mendenhall, AGAINST my Saints Def.? Well Mendenhall was all the Steelers offense, did as good as I could have hoped while allowing Big Ben to help my Def. out tremendously. 50.93 total points in that game when I expected 1/2 that. It all worked out and it completely saved my week. I need to stop writing these posts during games and wait until Tuesday. It’ll keep me from going crazy.
