Just throwing an update up here to clear some stuff up. I really have no problem with THON. It’s truly a good cause and those of you doing it for the right reasons, I commend you; none of my posts are directed at you. However, my quarrels are with those who are a part of THON for all the wrong reasons. Those that HAVE to be in it, so they are just trying to make the best of it. Those who aren’t doing it for the kids. It’s the pricks that do it to wear the THON shirts and THON trucker hats. Those that do it not “For the Kids”, but as an excuse to get drunk at those convenient mid-week morale meetings that take oh so much planning… Who’s buying the beer this week folks? I’m against all those who do it to feel good about themselves for taking up a cause, but if they just stopped spending so much money on alcohol and actually donated that money to THON, they’d actually be helping someone other than themselves. But they don’t do that. And that is my problem with THON. People, if they have it, should donate money to cancer patients regardless of whether or not someone dances for 48. It should be about the kids, not boosting the resume of some frat kid. And that’s all I have to say about that.
