What an interesting week for football. It was pretty hard deciding on a starting lineup this week. I thought it’d be all figured out, but then all week you had no idea who’d be playing and even if they were playing, how long they’d be playing. This week I dropped Peyton Manning and Corey Dillon. Peyton was the equalizer all season but this week was the time to let him go. They said about an hour before kickoff that he’d see very limited play time, so he was gone. He had 0 fantasy points. Corey Dillon did not. The Patriots gave absolutely no indication to who was playing or for how long. I just figured that Dillon would only play for a half or so, so I may as well go for someone who’d play a full game. I picked up Larry Johnson. He didn’t disappoint. Dillon had 18 points… Johnson had 27. Finally a swap that worked out. I picked up Delhomme for Manning. He got me 20 points. I was happy with that game overall. I did not want the Panthers in the playoffs, but I wanted Delhomme and Muhammad to light it up. They did enough, and so did my whole team.
So this is the end… my only friend, the end. It’s all done. 17 weeks of fantasy football is behind us. After an initial lead, then a slip to 4th or 5th place, followed by a slow and steady climb back to the top and a skillfull 3 week holdoff, somehow the “NFC East Champions!” came out on top of the Pennypacker league in 2004. I accumulated 2265 points, about 133 points a week, and ended up at 97.6 in the Overall Leaderboard. It was a good season and it’s a good way to start the year, but now it’s time for a break til March. Enjoy the NFL playoffs everyone, enjoy the fantasy offseason while it lasts. Baseball season is quickly approaching.
