Underworld Evolution

No Idea / Saturday, January 21st, 2006

I watched Underworld last night for the first time so that I could see Underworld Evolution tonight. Underworld Evolution was much easier to follow than Underworld was which is why I like Underworld a little more, but the ease of following didn’t make that big of a difference. I liked both movies as if they were the same. The whole vampire thing… the whole hot vampire thing is very nice. Every movie should have a hot vampire in leather. Seriously, it should be a prerequisite. But Michael’s character, albeit large, I just don’t like. Especially the love between him and Selene. I didn’t see how their love grew in the first movie which is probably what pisses me off the most. I feel like I have a bigger connection with Selene than Michael has. It was just ridiculous. Oh, and all the bullets. Bullets flying everywhere and sometimes people die and sometimes they don’t. If swords work so well, why not use more swords? Shit, I wouldn’t leave home without one. But still, in the end, the story is good which makes for a quick couple of hours. I read a review of this movie from a reader of the NY Times and it really hits the movie right on the head. “You will have a lot of fun with this movie if you are into vampires, werewolves, action and pseudo-history. The movie is generally more complicated than most fantasy but you can still follow it. Some bits are somewhat of a stretch but you can let it go. It is fun and entertaining. With the exception of the bland Scott Speedman, the actors do good work.”
