Invincible

Yesterday I saw Invincible and it was glorious. Right from the intro, perfectly set to music from Philly’s own Jim Croce, you watched the people and just thought about home. Sure it was the 70s but it didn’t change that much from when I was growing up. Moreso than in any Philadelphia movie, I really felt like they were my people in the stands, my people walking the streets, even the houses, the way of life, and hell, even the same old Eagles. But they’re our Eagles and throughout the movie there was always hope. Hope that Vince would make the team and hope that the Eagles would win and someday turn this thing around. It wasn’t a real big football movie like Any Given Sunday and it wasn’t a real big underdog movie like Rudy but it found a good place for itself and certainly hit the spot. Mark Wahlberg played a great athlete and he played an even better blue collar guy. I just really liked everything about the movie. The whole cast, the fact it’s set in Philadelphia and also that it’s about the best football team in all of the land.
