Everybody’s favorite Terententen segment is back! It’s time for your weekly fantasy rant, 2009 edition. So sit back, relax, and get ready because hopefully I’ll keep the will to keep these posts flowing week to week.
You obviously read in my last fantasy post, Fantasy Football Draft 2009 that I was quite pleased with my draft and was expecting some good things from this team. Unfortunately, I wasn’t expecting these good things to start coming right away because week 1 didn’t show the best of matchups. It started off with the first game of the season and my 1RB (Chris Johnson) vs the best Def. in all of the land, the Steelers. FAIL! Then my 2RB and 3RB sure didn’t pick up the slack, barely breaking 20 points combined. EPIC FAIL! 3 running backs, 30 frickin’ points? Even I didn’t expect it to be that low. That sure won’t get you far.
Don’t worry though, this column isn’t just about those fails, it’s also about the 1QB (Drew Brees) tossing 6 TDs and my Def. (Philadelphia) putting up 30 points thanks to Delhomme apparently being French for turnover. Oh, and when both WRs find the end zone, it almost always turns out to be a decent week. That my friends is how you finish with 170 points. See, everything turned out great in the end. I ended up having one of my best fantasy weeks ever, reminiscent of those Adrian Peterson rookie year weeks. Now I don’t expect my Def. to put up 30 points ever again let alone every week, but I do expect my RBs to pick up the production by like 75%/week which should pick up some of the slack. All in all, week 1 was an epic success. Let’s keep it up Galapagos Tortoises… way to come out the gates strong.
