Journey to the center of the Earth.

No Idea / Friday, April 1st, 2005

So I’ve decided to start taking walks during work instead of sitting on my fat ass all night. I figure if I walk around the building for a half hour, it’s better than nothing. I started yesterday and there are tons of “behind the scenes” places in the building I have never been, so I decided to venture towards the unknown. Besides, if I walked around the floor for 30 minutes, I’d probably get asked a million questions from guests and end up losing my job because I flipped out or something. Anyway, I heard there are rooms the size of football fields that we have that are unused, so I went searching. First I’ll say this; at the time I am up there, there is nobody, I mean nobody where I’d be walking. No employees anywhere to be found. Just silence. So yesterday I found one of those huge rooms. A huge room, not as big as a football field, but maybe 5 stories high and just barren. It was used more for storage at this point. Anyway, it was never painted, never even had a ceiling put in aside from the ugly roof. Then, tonight I went back up towards that area. Maybe I’d find some other cool place or something that I could call my own. So I’m walking around about where I was yesterday and at about the end of my walk, I decided to go through a different set of doors than the ones I took yesterday. What a miserable set of doors they turned out to be. As I let the door behind me shut, I said to myself that there was no way that they would lock… why would we have doors in hallways that lock employees out. Well I was wrong. It locked. So I had to proceed through the doors right in front of me. Guess what, they lock too… not that I had a choice at this point. Anyway. Now I’m in this massive corridor, probably 20 feet across with white walls and a low ceiling, again not fixed up in any way with pipes and grey crap all over it, and I couldn’t see an end either way. So I start walking one way. There’s no one around again of course. I’m not sure if anyone was in this hall since the dawn of time. So I’m walking along, I’m walking along, and every door is locked. I’m beginning to get pretty worried now that I’ll never get out and I’m supposed to have a key to be in there and I’m gonna end up having to call my boss to get security to come let me out. I reach the end of that direction and there’s a large staircase leading to about 5 doors. It sounded like the machines from the Matrix were behind there though, just waiting to take my life, so I decided I had better look the other way. I walked back past where I started, and I start to hear music. I walk towards the music, and it sounds like they’re playing right on the other side of the door. I’m not gonna go through this door unless I’m desperate cause who knows where I’ll end up walking out of. It sounded like the stage was right on the other side. So I kept walking and following the other exit signs hoping to find an unlocked door. I come again to another long staircase and just said fuck it. As I walked down the stairs, I start feeling a breeze. Great, where the hell is this taking me. I open one of the 8 doors and it turns out there are doors I’ve never seen before in the front of the outside on Las Vegas Blvd. Boy did I feel like a schmuck walking out there after I peeked my head out looking like I had no idea where I was. So that ended my journey for tonight. Something tells me I’ll be happy answering guest questions from now on.
