Yo yo yo. I saw Rahzel and Mike Patton tonight. Rahzel as you all know is the Godfather of Noyze… the undisputed beatbox champion of the world… and you might remember Mike Patton as the lead singer of Faith No More… yeah, that band with that Epic song and the video with the dying fish. Well the show was definitely an experience. It was full of experimental shit starting from the first opening DJ. He was pretty crappy, I can’t remember his name, or maybe I can, but I just don’t want to plug him here. It seemed to me his experiment was just feedback, and that has been done. Everything he did just sounded like noise. But then this guy by the name of DJ Js One came out. His stuff was friggin hot. He was just a performance scratcher, but he was mixing some cool stuff. He spun everything from like a lot of classic rock stuff like Zeppelin and Rush, to some good rap stuff like my boy Nas. Once he was done, Rahzel and Patton came on. They were doing some more experimental stuff I think. Razhel was laying down all his sweet ass percussion beat box noises, and Patton was using effects and stuff and making noises and stuff over Rahzel. Some of it sounded bad, but a lot of it was freakin awesome. Especially when Rahzel did his meatrack beatboxing and harmony at the same time stuff. Man, that shit was off the hook. I’m not sure if I’d see them as a duo again, but it was pretty cool seeing it once. I’d see Rahzel again if he did more beatboxing and rapping and stuff, but no more noises and screeching. I’m not too into that.
