I'm calm now. Definitely calm. So calm that I don't even have to talk about how my teacher ripped into me during class over my photos. So calm that I don't have to talk about fighting with her after class because I don't agree with her actions. You don't put down another student during class in front of his peers, unless you want to be put down yourself after class. At least this day is over. A test which I think i destroyed, that crappy art presentation, and then another presentation which required me to wear a shirt, tie, and my unconfortable shoes for 6 hours. Then today ended with a Railsplitter's loss, and elimination from the playoffs. The shirt is put on hold for another year I guess.

One good note... there's was a new Good Morning Miami tonight for the first time in a long time to help start my weekend. And now I'm about to start my weekend.

What I'm listening to right now: 2Pac - Better Dayz - Thugz Mansion

Buccaneers Buc's Win! Buc's Win! Wait, no they didn't. In the words of Mike, "I guess we'll just forfeit... you know, go out in true bucs fashion...". And so the sad sad story ends on an even sadder note. But everyone knows we would have won today if we could have played. It just didn't work out that way. The game is at 7:15, and I have a meeting at 7:00, Shuttlesworth, Aargh, and Stickman all have tests, and Spic n Span has been sleeping since at least 11:30 this morning, so he probably won't even wake up today. Hey, there's always next year... no there's not. Never again will you see me enter another IM sports competition. You heard it here first folks. Only on the official sports talk of Brett.

What I'm listening to right now: Van Halen - Van Halen - Jamie's Cryin'

2.26.03 @2:47AM
Why am I still awake? I've been tired for quite some time now, yet I stay up like a little kid past his bed time. I'd say it is because I'm an idiot, however that would show some fault in me and we can't have that. So I guess I'm now left pondering one of these mysteries of life so to speak. Sort of like "which came first, the chicken or the egg", but more in a why is Brett still awake and rambling on kind of way, because we all know the egg came first. Yes it did. Hush up you.

What I'm listening to right now: Silence

9 days until Spring Break... and the countdown begins. Well now that I think about it, the countdown started a couple days ago, but since I have nothing to post, I'm going to say it now. I can. It's my page. Sure it is. That's why my name is at the top of the page. See it up there?

What I'm listening to right now: Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle - Murder Was The Case/Ain't No Fun

2.25.03 @1:03AM
Choose any two digit number, add both digits together, and then subtract them from your original number... i.e. 23: 2+3=5. 23 - 5 = your answer. I'm guessing that your answer is a smiley face, but I'm probably wrong. This little mind reader right here on the other hand probably isn't. If I had a Sobe Energy to go along with this thing, I may never be thirsty again.

What I'm listening to right now: 2Pac - Better Dayz - Still Ballin/When We Ride On Our Enemies/Changed Man

2.24.03 @12:30PM
And... it's snowing again. Should have figured as much. It got cold as anything yesterday while I was walking around campus looking for pictures for my art project. The wind chill was atrocious. I guess those 40 degree days were just a tease.

What I'm listening to right now: E:OS - U:pside Down - Inspiration/Anger vs. Envy

So I finally cracked last night and decided to see a movie here in State College. Boy it was old school in there. This theater was worse than the Porleans at home. It was more like a South Jersey theater. The screen was about the same size as a PDA, and the sound quality was probably the same I'm guessing. Good theater to see a musical like Chicago in. Once I got used to it though it wasn't bad. And I got to feel like I was 13 again walking to the Roosevelt Mall. Maybe this theater is like the fountain of youth or something.

Chicago Anyway, Chicago was pretty good... I wasn't dissapointed at all. It was also a plus because it was something a little different than I'm used to seeing. It had its ups and downs... first off, if you want to see a bunch of beautiful women running around in lingerie, then go see Chicago. However, it did seem to drag on a little long towards the end, but that didn't really bother me too much because it wasn't a terribly long movie minute wise. I guess the guy sitting next to Kristin didn't like it too much though, because he slept from the moment the movie started, until the moment it ended. What a mighty peculiar old man. He came in, ate his candy bar instantly, and started snoring... loudly. Now that's my idea of a Saturday night.

What I'm listening to right now: The Doors - Bright Midnight - Touch Me/Crystal Ship

This is the most boring weekend ever. I often look at my life to realize that it feels empty somehow, but I cannot pin point why. I need a change of scenery or something. Everything is the same day in and day out here. People say this town is great, and they never want to leave, but I haven't been able to see why in quite some time. I honestly can't wait to get out of here. I'm not saying that I want to leave school and get a job yet... I'm just saying this town is too small and boring. I need some place with life in it. It's times like this when I miss Philadelphia the most. I know at home there would be things to do, but what do I have here? Well I could go to Thon and watch hundreds of vain, snobby frat punks and sorostitutes party just to try to make themselves look good. That's almost as bad as looking at them almost every other weekend while they live in their own filth and violate everyone other than themselves. Yeah, that could be fun if I was a freshman.

Oh yeah, back on topic... wait, that was the topic... that's all there is to do here. I guess I'll continue to sit in this chair and keep piecing up the 14 days of music I have on my computer. Maybe by that time, I'll be able to go home where there's actually stuff to do.

What I'm listening to right now: Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory - By Myself/In The End

2.20.03 @11:53PM
I posted today.
I'm bored. No class tomorrow, but there's nothing to do. So we've decided to turn our room into a fraternity, but without giving ourselves retarded names. We're listening to all that good frat music that I like but I know is sort of driving Tim crazy. What's wrong with Skeelo? Little Mookie, Big Al, and Loraine? Nothing... exactly!
2.18.03 @9:16PM
Buccaneers Oh yeah, now who said we were losers?! The Buccaneers finally got ourselves a BIG W with yesterday's stunning snow cancellation. They knew we were going to win yesterday and they didn't want to take that win away from us, so they just gave it to us because of the dominating force that we are. Well that's not entirely true. Each team who normally played on Mondays was given a W, but we were going to win yesterday anyway. So it kind of sucks that the team who we would have beat yesterday got an undeserved win. Buccaneers new and improved record.... 1-4 baby!!! 5 down, 1 to go.
2.18.03 @8:25PM
I guess having a 4 day weekend made today's day of classes that much longer. At least it's over now, and I'm finally back in my room. Only 4 more classes left until the weekend. How sweet is that. I certainly think it's as sweet as the sweet sweet nectar of life. Or just something with chocolate in it. Unless it's something that chocolate shouldn't be mixed with, like a meat product. Then you can forget about it, because it's not going anywhere near my mouth. I just ate Panda Express. The entire place? No, not the entire place, it'll still be there tomorrow. I just had some orange flavored chicken as they call it, and some mandarin chicken. It was good though... no chocolate anywhere in sight, and that's the way I like my chicken.
2.17.03 @10:51PM
I saw a lot of people outside building stuff in the snow today, however I didn't see one decent looking structure. Here we live on a campus filled with engineers and architects, Courtesy of Calvin and Hobbes Resurrection and these things were just embarrasing. I made better forts and snowmen when I was 12, and that was without a degree from Penn State University. I mean how cool would it have been if the campus was decorated with things like this.
2.17.03 @10:01PM
Zora from Fox.com And the winner is... Zora. That's if you consider living the rest of your life with Joe actually winning. All I can really say is that this show was absolutely terrible, and quite frankly I'm pissed at myself for watching it each week. The 19 girls who Evan didn't chose weren't the only losers. Every single person who actually watched the show, present company included, was just as big of a loser. Every week, I would tell myself this show is bad, but then I'd go and watch it. Low and behold it wouldn't let me down... it was always just as bad as I thought. If you never watched this show, consider yourself blessed, because you saved hours of your life that you'll never get back, and now you know what happened... we all lost.

Buccaneers On a good note, the Buccaneers did not lose tonight! However, we did not play our normally scheduled game tonight due to the snow. Since the campus was shut down, all other activities were shut down, including IM sports. This means we only have one more game next week to actually win something. Hey, at least I should be getting my IM Volleyball shirt. That'll give me something to look foward to.
2.17.03 @6:47PM
Weather.com NE RadarI woke up this morning, and it looked like something to the right outside. Most of the white stuff had passed over State College, and Philadelphia was just finishing up. I heard they got about 2 feet in Philadelphia, and like 30 inches to the west of State College. However, I think we only got about 14 inches. I'll take it. It was enough for me to go exploring.

Yeah, so I have already returned from my exploration, and I got lots of good pics. I put some of them in my photos section, so I won't show you them here, but go check them out.

Yao! Thanks to Rockets.com Two words: Yao Ming
Another two words: No Class!
I'm not sure which one's bigger.

Yao...Yao...Yao...No Class...

Yeah, he's really big.

I've been quite busy working on a new page. It's for my IST 250 class, but I'm doing it for myself a little more I think. Scott Baio Style!I'm redoing my first page, Sunking's Beatles Page, which hasn't been touched in pretty much half a decade. That's a lot. Well it will be neglected no more, because soon it will be looking so stylish that Scott Baio won't even be able to handle it!

Tim just brought back candy cigarettes. How sweet is that? I'm pretty pumped. He said they aren't the good kind, but they are the kind that I remember. We must have gotten the crappy candy cigarettes in the ghetto. Nonetheless, these are actually cigarettes I can handle.

I just saw someone with Guns N' Roses located next to Lynyrd Skynyrd in their "Classic Rock" music folder. I've seen it before, but this time it hit a nerve. I mean Guns N' Roses put out Appetite for Destruction in 1987, 16 years ago, but that does not necessarily make it “Classic Rock". Why? Because "Classic Rock" doesn't just define "old" music! After thinking about it, "Classic Rock" is simply its own genre of music. Just like we had "Rock & Roll" in the 60s, and... well "80s" in the 80s, "Classic Rock" is that incredible sound that defined the 70s. Once MTV came around, "Classic Rock" was over, and it was time for bands like Duran Duran and Men Without Hats to carve out their own genre of music. For example, most of today's bands are carving out this new genre of music that we can all remember as "Nu Metal", or simply "Crap" in about 10 years. Heaven forbid we ever call what is coming out today "Classic Rock".

I was flipping through 100 stations of nothing, when I stumbled upon Charles In Charge. Man that show was awsome. It was all about Charles, and him being in charge of our days and our nights. And oh man, that Buddy Lembeck was one crazy dude. Charles In Charge is usually only on Nick at Night Monday-Fridays at 4:30AM, so I would say I got pretty lucky catching a glimpse at one of the greatest shows ever at such a convenient time. That Nick at Night sure is great programming. It's like Nickelodeon, but for big people.

I Am Ned Flanders According to the Simpsons quiz, I am Ned Flanders! I'm a genuinely nice person, and people hate me for it. I'm a goody-goody, and besides avoiding risky situations, I try to please everyone. Well this is all news to me. However Ned is one heck of a guy, so I'll take it as a compliment I guess.

Dude... you're going to jail! hey, wait a minute, that's not the line! It appears as if Curtis the "Dell Dude" has been finding other ways to spend his time besides annoying the heck out of 90% of the population. He was busted on suspicion of trying to buy marijuana, however later released. It must really suck to be in the spotlight. With all of the problems going on in the world, from potential wars, to more potential wars, our old "friend" Curtis is getting arresting for purchasing some pot. Now he can put this in his portfolio between the Dell commercials, and the NA commercials he'll probably being doing in about ten years or so.
2.10.03 @ 10:30PM
BuccaneersSame day, same story. It seems we're getting worse every week. We played such a crappy team today, but we played even crappier ball. We simply stoop to the level of our opponenets it seems. This weeks stats: 0 shots, 0 points. We only scored 16 points total, and man that's just embarrassing.

On an even crappier note, Joe Millionaire sucked this week. He didn't even vote anyone off. I feel like I just wasted an hour of my life and I'll never get it back. Damn you Joe... you turned one hour, and made it into one crappy hour.
2.10.03 @ 12:10AM
Ames!Yeah, so there's an Ames cart in our study lounge. Tim just went in there to study, and came back with this astonishing news. It's just sitting in there. Ahhh, the power of cheese... or college students heavily under the influence. Hey, at least my room smells like chocolate. That's a good thing, because chocolate is good. Thank you Bridgewater "Chocolate Dream" scented candle.

Bon Jovi @ BJC
So tonight I saw Bon Jovi with the Goo Goo Dolls, and it was a really awsome show. We got there late and missed Slide, which is really upsetting. However, I got to hear Name, which was the song I really wanted to hear. They played for about an hour, which just wasn't enough time. I wouldn't mind seeing them again when they headline, because they really sounded good.

Bon JoviAround 9:45ish, Bon Jovi came out and simply rocked the house for practically three hours. It was insane with all the screaming, and the sheer energy Bon Jovi performed with. It seemed like every song came out and kicked you in the head. They didn't play everything I wanted to hear, but what they did play sounded great. They opened with Bounce and finished their encore with Twist and Shout. Two songs before Twist and Shout, they played Dead or Alive which was what I think everyone was waiting for. I think the high point of the show, for me anyway, was when they performed Livin' On A Prayer. I don't know if I've ever seen a crowd react that way to any song before.

These were the set lists:

Goo Goo Dolls:
DIZZY
SLIDE
BIG MACHINE
SMASH
TUCKED AWAY
HERE IS GONE
BLACK BALLOON
ALL EYES ON ME
SYMPATHY
NAME
WHAT A SCENE
BROADWAY
IRIS

Bon Jovi:
BOUNCE
YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME
EVERYDAY
BLOOD ON BLOOD
LIVIN' ON A PRAYER
UNDIVIDED
RUNAWAY
JUST OLDER
IN THESE ARMS
HEROES (David Bowie cover)
MISUNDERSTOOD
JOEY
I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU (Richie sang lead vocals, Dave echoed)
HOOK ME UP
RAISE YOUR HANDS
SOMEDAY I'LL BE SATURDAY NIGHT
CAPTAIN CRASH AND THE BEAUTY QUEEN FROM MARS
I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD
BORN TO BE MY BABY
Encore:
IT'S MY LIFE
WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE
BAD MEDICINE (Shout)
TWIST & SHOUT

Now this is a skyline. Thanks to WebShots Community photos
Yeah, some crazy stuff happened tonight. Mostly because Tim had a little too much "fun". Like usual, it all came down to the Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh scene. Let me run you through a usual scenario. I’ll start by mentioning that State College is “Little Pittsburgh”, because I guess Pittsburgh needs to adopt a little more people to boost their population. Anyway, the Pittsburgh guy, jealous of Philadelphia because it is far superior, starts picking a fight with a Philadelphia citizen. It quickly escalates because we Philadelphians don’t like having trash talked about us by people who aren’t even from Pittsburgh. Most of them are from 15 to 45 minutes away from Pittsburgh. I know, I know, most people say they’re from Philadelphia, even though they live outside of the borders, but I myself do not condone that. However, it irks me when I have to argue with someone about whether I live inside Philadelphia because I’m further from downtown Philly, than they are from downtown Pittsburgh. It just so happens, that Philadelphia is 135 square miles while Pittsburgh is a puny 55.5 square miles. At least I write Philadelphia in my address. Well, then the Pittsburgh person just starts talking about sports, because that’s all that the simple minds of Pittsburgh people can handle, and they get retarded on that, because Pittsburgh has little or no history whatsoever. I don’t know, it’s just a shame when three educated guys can’t come up with something besides how the Steelers won some Super Bowls over 20 years ago, and how the Penguins are doing so well this season, and oh yeah, let’s not forget about the lowly Pirates, and that wonderful basketball team they have. Now that’s a city. You know… maybe the WNBA is looking for a city to fester in for a couple of years.

I haven't updated in 2 days, because of things related to my last post. But now I'm finally done my huge group project that ended up being 23 pages. I woke up at 8:45AM on my day off to go to my teacher's office hours, then spent four hours in the Rider II computer lab all the way across campus with my group to finish the project. We were supposed to work from 1-4PM, but ended up being there until 5PM, hence missing the hardcopy deadline forcing us to e-mail the project. What a wonderful Friday off.
2.05.03 @ 5:56PM
Oh man am I tired of school. I normally enjoy working in groups, and I do understand that most likely in my future career, whatever that may be, I will be working in groups. However, this semester is rediculous. I have 3 classes that are using groups. This means that I have to worry about scheduling meetings around about a half a million people. Well more like 14, but it's still incredibly difficult to do. A lot of us have night classes, and my classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays span almost all day, so I can't meet on those days. This leaves Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday to meet with 3 groups. And then, these projects we do aren't cake, so you have to meet more than once, and for a nice chunk of time to complete them. There just isn't enough time in the day. So much for Fridays off.

Those Golden Arches- Live from Las VegasI just found out that a new Subway is opened every 24 hours, and a new McDonalds is opened every 39 hours. That sounds pretty nuts. I know when I was in NYC a couple years back, there was a Starbucks on almost every block. Now in vegas they're putting up drive through Starbucks in practically every shopping center up by my house. Reminds me of Lewis Black's Starbucks sketch where he walked down the street, and there was a Starbucks directly across the street from another Starbucks. You should really hear that sketch if you haven't already. It really puts our entire society into perspective.

This brings me to another point. Lewis Black is hilarious. Maybe his humor isn't for everybody, but it sure is for me. Lewis Black is probably my favorite comedian when it comes to dishing out the sarcasm. I tend to enjoy the sarcasm every now and then, and by saying that, I mean all the time.
2.04.03 @ 2:37PM
It's windy out. At least it's not cold. I'm walking to each class, and not just watching people blow around, but trees that look like they just drank way too much.

BuccaneersBuccaneers basketball... what can I say? We lost our game once again. This makes the team 0-3, and Brett very angry. We have more talent on the team than this record shows, but we just can't put anything together. The last two games we could have won, but this game we just got dominated. The team basically fell apart, tempers flaired, and the frustration just went wild.

Give Me The Damn Ball by Brett BursteinThat's why I decided to go ahead and write a book which I feel will solve the team's problems. I know what you're thinking, the book sounds a little familiar, but maybe that is because Keyshawn Johnson wrote a book similar to mine a couple years back. It's a compelling novel about a young man who just doesn't get the ball as much as he should, even though when he touches it, it's 2. It's quite upsetting when your team only has 4 points halfway through the first half, you have all of them, but you stop getting the ball.

On a lighter note, Melissa got kicked off of Joe Millionaire. Even though I never liked her, I was shocked personally because I thought he was really into her. Good turn of events however because she was the money hungry girl of the 3. And the ugliest. Tramp.

1980 Phillies Throwback Jersey courtesy of ESPN Mall Phillies TeamstoreHow sweet would it be to have a 1980 Phillies throwback jersey. I've wanted one for quite some time now, but they're just too much damn money. They're $149.99, so unless they come down to... well much less than that, I will have to keep waiting. Unless the people who hooked LeBron up want to send a little love my way and hook a brother up.

Calvin and Hobbes thanks to The Calvin and Hobbes ResurrectionRemember Calvin and Hobbes? Just looking through that stuff really brings me back. I used to eat, sleep, and breathe that boy and his tiger. I have all of the books somehwere, and after looking at this stuff, I really want to find them. I really love the snow art. Boy if I could have made stuff like that. Now that's a childhood.

What an eventful weekend I had. I was supposed to leave at 12:30ish, but I didn’t leave until about 2:30. Leaving that late didn’t get me home until almost 6:00. Well, I’ll just get down to the bottom of it. I wanted to see Sinch on Friday, which is why I went home. They were playing a show at the Troc that started at 7:00. Well I made it down to the show, but I didn’t have a ticket. I don’t think it was sold out, but it was a pretty poorly planned trip. I realized that I didn’t have a way to get home after the show, aside from taking the El back to La Salle, into a not so nice neighborhood, at midnight. Not smart. At least I got to eat a good meal in Chinatown.

Saturday was decent, I got to shop for some things I needed for school, and got to go to Steve’s for lunch. I got to eat another good meal at dinner, and also got to buy a new shirt, including two free, sweet, wooden hangers, a Polo and a Nautica. I always wanted one of them.

A Guy ThingI also went to the movies to see A Guy Thing, with Jason Lee, Julia Stiles, and Selma Blair. It was hilarious. Better than I expected, even though I thought it was going to be good. It actually was a decent movie, much more than a stupid comedy. I really like Jason Lee, and Julia Stiles is pretty hot, so I may just be biased, but that doesn't matter. The ending was a bit predictable, but what could you expect from a movie like this. Anway, like Krusty the Clown, it cracked me so consistently up.
