March WhiteoutTomorrow is April 1st, and I am once again wearing my winter jacket. If you looked outside my window a little while ago, it was practically a whiteout. Incredible. I'm beginning to wonder if it'll ever get warm outside for good.

What I'm listening to right now: Radiohead - OK Computer - Electioneering

So much for shorts. So much for logic. Yeah, it's always good to have snow on the ground in April... it makes a man feel special.

Well this weekend went amazingly fast. Gotta thank Rob for making it up here. It was a good time. Last night was sweet. We went to the G-Man and split a pitcher of Yuengling and some wings, while watching my bracket get destroyed as Arizona lost to Kansas in a heartbreaker. So much for #1 seeds. Kentucky lost earlier in the day yesterday, and Oklahoma just bit it against Syracuse. Have fun next Texas.

Can't... write... paper...
Yep, I'm back after a week of doing nothing but reading. Much has changed since we last spoke. My 21st birthday was yesterday. It was pretty crappy. I had class all day, an art project due, a huge test at night, and now I've been trying to write a paper forever it seems. I just can't figure out what to write. All I know is that it is due tomorrow so I better get it done.

And how about this one... "The fluxcapacitor; this is what makes time traveling possible!" This is one of the best news articles ever. Just classic. Right down to the point where you know the feds are baffled, and think there's a chance he may actually be from the future. Hah!

What I'm listening to right now: Silence

And I'm tired of hearing the term "Shock & Awe". This is a war, not a video game. And if we are treating it as a video game, I haven't even been shocked nor am I in awe yet.

What I'm listening to right now: Live - Lakini's Juice

I just got back from Rittenour, and they didn't think anything was broken, however I did sprain it pretty badly. The nurse said I'll probably be out of it for a month or so. I did however get myself some nice parting gifts from the nurses like a pamphlet on sprains, some Motrin, a nice ankle brace, and a pair of crutches. Haha independent Brett can't even walk without crutches. I know you're all thinking that. Well I'll show you who needs crutches. You call them crutches, but I call them firewood. Aahhh feel that warmth.

What I'm listening to right now: Linkin Park - Meteora - Figure.09/Breaking the Habit

Yeah, so I played basketball on Monday for the first time in a while, however I stepped on Christian's foot, and rolled my ankle. It hurt, but I got up and kept playing after a brief station identification break. After a few days, ::cough cough:: last night, I figured I wasn't limping any more, so I just naturally assumed it was OK if I played basketball again. Man, I was lighting it up. Until I stepped on Sonny's foot, and rolled the same ankle again, however this time it was 100x worse. Now in all my years of playing basketball, I have never rolled my ankle on someone's foot, however all of a sudden I do it twice in the same week. WTF! I don't know what's going on, all I do know is it took me practically 35 minutes to walk home from Rec Hall... and I took the bus from Rec to Curtain and Shortlidge. So my ankle's pretty big, but ice is handling that. However, walking is a bit out of the question.

Yeah, so the war, or should I say "Strike on Iraq" has begun. You can also call it by the cool name of "Operation Iraqi Freedom". Iraqi Freedom… who gives a crap about Iraqi Freedom. Whatever happened to that so called "War on Terrorism"? That war that had absolutely nothing to do with liberating Iraqi citizens, and had everything to do with Al Qaeda crashing planes into our buildings. How easily it seems we forget these things… even though so many people vowed to “Never Forget”.

I think it was pretty damn slick of the puppeteers in Washington to slowly slide away from the terrorism factor, and to focus on “decapitating” Saddam Hussein while none of us were looking. Now, I’m in no way against the war; go right ahead and do whatever you want to. Go kill that man for all I care… it’s about time. However, how about we go find that Usama Bin Laden guy. That guy who is still at large and probably planning some more delightful attacks on us on our home turf. So far all we got out of that terrorism war is those stupid threat alert status things that mean nothing. Let’s go boys, get on the ball.

And I have returned with great news and stories from the east. It was one of the quickest weeks in the history of my life. I didn't do anything, yet I did so much at the same time. However, I don't remember exactly what I did because it just went so quick. It makes me sick to think about how quick the week actually went because I'm going to die extremely soon if life keeps up this insane pace. One thing I can say is I did not sleep as much as I should have and would have liked to. I guess I'll break it down for my own personal recollection.

Old School Friday night I saw Old School and laughed a lot. It was funny. You should see it if you haven't seen it already. And if you haven't seen it yet, I'm a bit angry at you and you're not my friend anymore. God I wish I could be back in college again and take advantage of the times like they did. Hmm wait a minute.

Nah, I won't just leave you like that to start living. I wouldn't do it as cool as they did it anyway. And no frat is that cool. That's about the only good one ever. Anyway, there's still a whole week to recount. As for Saturday, I didn't really do anything except watch all 3 hours of Law & Order. There was nothing to do.

Sunday was another day of nothing. I think.

On Monday I woke up early so I could eat lunch at John's Roast Pork. Oh man is that place good. If it wasn't for its stupid hours, I might live there. I guess it's a good thing that it has stupid hours.

Tuesday was Rob's birthday... Happy Birthday Rob! To celebrate the event, I risked my life and ventured deep into the ghetto to spend the night at his apartment at La Salle. I made it out alive... barely.

Bringing Down The HouseWednesday morning arrived way too early, but I went to King of Prussia where I was met by Steph and Taylor. I felt like crap all day, and not passing out from exhaustion was the only thing on my mind. It wasn't a good time at the mall. However we got cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory, and then went back to Philadelphia where we saw Bringing Down The House. I would normally skip a movie of this calibur, but Taylor wanted to see it. I wasn't expecting much going into the theater so this movie didn't let me down at all. I was entertained and it was pretty funny. I was surprised. I guess the whole odd couple thing worked its magic.

Thursday was one of the days like Sunday that fell into the black hole of forgotten days. I don't know where it went because the next thing I knew, it was Friday night and I was laying down to go to sleep. On Friday I did go back to King of Prussia feeling a little less tired and more able to stay standing. That was a good day.

All I did on Saturday was pick up some last minute things I needed and contemplate about how it was Saturday already. I cried myself to sleep Saturday night dreading returning to class, and the work that will follow. 7 weeks left. Just keep thinking 7 weeks left.

Time for Spring Break... and you know what that calls for!
Tell me if you know, I honestly don't know what's supposed to follow that. It just sounded like the right thing to say. Maybe a Hakuna Matata or something of that nature. Well whatever it is, I'm out for a week or so. Be back the 16th.

And so it came to pass that at 8:30PM on the 6th of March, 2003, Brett Jordan Burstein finished his trip to Hell and back. He will henceforth be known as Sir Brett of State College.

Yeah, being knighted in State College isn't much, but are you Sir of anything? I think not!

Yesterday was a wonderful day. I finished 1 of the original projects I had to do this week. Then I got 2 more projects thrown at me that are due Thursday. So that's -1 in the assignments I have done now, all with one less day to do them. So then I spent 4 1/2 hours in the Music 2 lab working on my assignment due 3/6 that is 20% of my grade, only to learn that once I was done, saved, and backed up everything so that I would be safe, that certain kinds of files don't just save the way we would like, and they would rather disappear. But hey, it was only the piano parts that I recorded myself and since I do not know how to play the piano, I can always just go play them again because it's so easy playing an instrument for the first time. So lets recap:
  • Yesterday was terrible
Where do I stand now?:
  • IST 250 Web Page Design Document due 3/6
  • Art 290 project resubmission due 3/6
  • IST 321 Problems 3 and 4 due 3/6
  • Art 290 Test on 32 photographer biographies on well... 3/6
Yeah, so maybe I'll talk to you Thursday night sometime Mr. Blog.

Just a few more days... just a few more days of hell. So much to do this week, so little time. 2 tests and 4 projects, one of which counts towards 20% of my grade, all in 4 days. Fun! I'll just keep feeling better by picturing myself on the warm sunny beaches of Southern Florida which I'm not going to. No problem there though, because once I'm done these last 2 weeks, I would probably be happy spending my break in Pittsburgh. HAHA no I wouldn't. But Philadelphia, that will suffice.

Anyway, the weekend was one of the best in a while. It felt like it was the longest weekend in the history of the world, but it went so fast at the same time. I didn't post yesterday because I just forgot... too bad, but also because I had a headache for about 10 hours from before I went to sleep, until I woke up. But it was all worth it, because Tim and I completely embarrassed anyone who stepped up to the plate against us for over 2 hours. That's 8 wins in a row Holmes.

Earth to Spanier,
OPEN SOME FRIGGIN BASKETBALL COURTS FOR PLAYING BASKETBALL!!!

It's as if Penn State wants us to begin drinking at 4:00PM on a Saturday afternoon, because when we want to do other things, we simply can't. The White building is closed for Karate, and then Late Night... Rec Hall is closed for a gymnastics meet, and even worse, stupid wresting registration for grade school kids who obviously don't pay any kind of tuition or ACTIVITY FEE TO PLAY BASKETBALL WHEN WE WANT TO... and then the IM building is packed full of the students who want to play, but unless you want to wait hours for a court, you're out of luck. Something definitely has to be done because the thousands of students who would like to play ball certainly can't on the about 8 courts the IM building provides us. They should put that someone on the Penn State brochure for prospective students.
