The Longest Yard

After waiting over a year for this movie, I finally saw The Longest Yard on Saturday and it did not disappoint. It was one quick 1 hour and 49 minutes. I don’t think Adam Sandler could ever disappoint me though. I was never worried about the whole living up to the original thing because I only saw the original once and it was quite some time back. I remember I enjoyed it, but even though Burt Reynolds is a pretty cool guy, Adam Sandler might be my favorite actor. And the casting in the remake was fantastic. If you didn’t already know the athletes, you probably couldn’t tell they were athletes from watching the movie. It did help they were playing athletes though. I’m just saying, it was better than getting a bunch of actors to play athletes. And there were tons of wrestlers and they were also a great fit. Every actor was hilarious and Sandler hit a home run again. He’s a great actor and he’s still funny as hell. The sports scenes in this movie were also great. My only quarrel though was that there was too much slow motion in the sports scenes. They coulda cut back on that a little. Can’t wait til this comes out on DVD. One more Adam Sandler movie that I’ll be able to watch over and over again.

Step out of the car now!

This police tasing video is great. I heard the sound clip on Stern yesterday but I stumbled on the video of it today. Some dumb woman in Florida decides she doesn’t have to listen to police and gets exactly what she deserves.

Policeman: Go ahead and put your cigarette out and step out of the vehicle for me. Put your phone down.
Dumbass woman: No, I’m callin somebody.
Policeman: I’m gonna tell you one more time. Put your phone down.
Dumbass woman now on phone: Mark, the police pulled me over and he’s tellin me he’s gonna arrest me… (cop opens car door) He’s arrestin me. Stop, don’t touch me… You gonna shoot me? He’s got a gun and he’s gonna shoot me.

I can’t go on. This thing is too hilarious. It’s amazing that people this stupid actually exist. If a cop says get out of the car, you get out of the car. She’s telling Mark where she is because she must actually think he is gonna come down there and rescue her from the cops. She screams for like 10 minutes because she got stunned for 5 seconds. You gotta just watch it for yourself.

ESPN can burn.

Are you kidding me? I spent almost $1,000 for a TV and pay like $10 a month extra for HD programming so that some Indian kid can spell “gomphosis” in a friggin spelling bee on ESPN HD. Dammit ESPN you better have an afternoon baseball game on today. ::checks guide:: No, it looks like this crap is over in 10 minutes, then we get a SportsCenter which I probably already saw part of at work, and then this friggin spelling bee is back on. This is definitely one of the worst things that has ever happened in the history of the world. It’s bad enough that you only have like 4 baseball games on a week, but now you have the same amount of coverage for a damn spelling bee. ESPN, you should be shamed.
