Heartbreaker

So this week has sucked. It was supposed to be good. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were free of baseball. Now that’s not good, but they were free of fantasy baseball and that my friends is good. But it was all ruined. On Monday I got a flat tire at some point. I would know when though because the light that’s supposed to come on in my dash to tell me that one of my tires has lost a considerable amount of pressure never came on. I didn’t know until I made a right turn and my back left wheel slipped awkwardly.

So, it’s my first flat and the first setback I’ve had in the wide world of owning a vehicle, but I finally came to grips with it. I didn’t want to change it to the doughnut because I have no idea how to. However on the ride home Tuesday with Rob, we decided we would change the tire. I read the instructions and it looked simple. So we get back to my house, get all the stuff ready and begin. We didn’t get far though because the lugnuts decided they didn’t want to remove their supertight, stranglehold grip and for the life of either of us we couldn’t get a single one off. I mean I was lifting the car off of the ground with the wrench, fearing the metal was just going to shatter. I swear it was bending. Maybe Toyota tightened them too much, maybe the heat of living in the desert expanded the metal, maybe it’s both. So we just gave up before someone lost an eye. So alright, I’ll drive the car the 4 miles to Big O Tires and just have them do it with their machines and electricity and such. Tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

So it’s Wednesday morning, I inflate the tire as much as it’ll go and I drive to the store. It made it there fine and still had some air to spare. But guess what. Here goes. For those of us with Scion tCs, never get a flat. I’ve warned you. It’s an impossible tire to replace. You can order them online but other than that, not even Toyota has them. I tried two dealerships before I had them order one from LA. And then here’s the heartbreaker of them all. It’s a $250 tire. What did you say? How much for ONE tire? Yeah. I wanted to cry. Instead of letting it all out at once though, I’ve just been sulking all week instead. So tomorrow I’m getting up at 7AM or something and getting the tire replaced and the electronics checked out. Maybe I’ll have better news tomorrow but for now I don’t know what to say.

So last Saturday I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. I have to agree with pretty much everything I’ve read everywhere else. The movie is real good, almost on par with the first, however it has too many slow parts unfortunately, including the beginning, which keep it lacking. Still, I’m certainly psyched over the sequel. I would’ve preferred this movie have a concrete ending so that it could stand on its own, however nothing’s perfect. Not even the LotR. But come on. The hype surrounding this movie was extroadinarily uncalled for. You would think you’d be safe going to the theater at 3PM, however I ended up having to see, I believe, the 4:30PM movie and waiting in a line to buy the ticket and a line to wait for the movie and a line for my soda like it was the first showing of the first virtual reality porno on a planet with only straight guys. Well not quite, but the movie obviously did very well since it had the highest grossing weekend ever. Certainly not worth that much, but overall it was an enjoyable flick because the cast is awesome and the story is awesome.

Final note to self:

One last time, do not drink tequila. I’ve never really gotten sick from drinking it, but it just tastes bad. Like in that scene from “Can’t Hardly Wait” where the guy drinks beer for the first time and says, “Nobody drink the beer, the beer has gone bad!”… yeah, tequila is like that… all the time… and it never gets good. I’ve drank tequila like 4 of 5 times now and it’s just a vile liquid that no man should be subjected to. Brett… honestly… if you drink tequila one more time, it’s on you. Don’t say I haven’t warned you. Just save the half a bottle you have left and leave it for when Christian comes out again. In fact, use it as a bargaining chip to get him out here again. And then work on Tim some more. Aww hell, we all know Tim will never be out here. I don’t know where you’re going with this. Oh yeah? Well I’m going to where tequila just isn’t good. That’s life.

Ok, we don’t even have all 10 people in the league yet and we’re having draft time issues. Here’s what I’m wondering… would it be better to move the draft time to Sunday the 3rd at around the same time? I already know it would make it easier for at least 3 of the 8 people who have already joined, but I want to give everyone a say before I change the time. Just let me know ASAP. I’d like to know by this Thursday. If I don’t get any “I can’t make that date”s, I’m going to change it. If there is a problem, we can find another time, possibly the week prior, I don’t know. Right now though, 12:30PM PT/3:30PM ET is available for Sunday the 3rd so I’d like to get that if possible. Let me know.

Superman Returns

No one is going to see Superman Returns and that is sad because it really is a good movie. It’s getting tons of good reviews and it just makes no sense. The movie stayed true to its roots, that new guy did a pretty decent job at being Clark and Superman and he also did a good job at keeping like Christopher Reeves’ likeable character. I mean this is a pretty big role to play for your first movie. Unless maybe that’s why no one’s going to see it. The fact that a big name movie star isn’t playing the lead is keeping people away? If they had gotten a nut like Tom Cruise to play Superman, would everyone have been happy? Anyway, it’s stupid. One thing I didn’t like though was the chemistry between Superman and Lois. Like the fact that if I didn’t know better, it would have been awkward. I almost actually wanted her to stay with Cyclops rather than go with Superman and that’s just not right. Margot Kidder would have never moved on from Superman. Not in a million years. But then there were a lot of neat moments in the movie for nerds and when he flew up to the sun to heal himself before going back for Lex… I just thought it was well done. Another good thing was that it was 2 1/2 hours and still felt fast. I like long movies that don’t get cut up because they’d be too long for moviegoers and I like it even more when you can’t tell. Long superhero movies are the best. Except for the fact that I had to piss like a racehorse for about an hour and a half. But that’s not the movie’s fault. I can’t get mad at you.
