Peyton was on SNL this week and I didn’t catch all of it but man, these two sketches are pretty funny. I saw the 300 and it had me laughing pretty good but I didn’t see the United Way one until today and it’s even better. Who doesn’t like Peyton Manning?

Yesterday I went to see KA at the MGM. They were doing half price tickets for locals so we had to jump on it. It was the only Cirque show that I haven’t seen and it was awesome. I’d have to say it was as good as Mystere, much different than Love and better than O and Zumanity. I’m definitely glad this deal came up, and the seats were great although I don’t think there was a bad seat in the house. Less acrobatics than Mystere but other great effects that are just too hard to describe without going into a lot of detail that would just make them not sound amazing. Definitely well worth the half price admission. Might just say it was worth the $120+ full price admission. Depending on my mood. Plus I got to get out to the strip and have an awesomely good dinner at Rainforest. Steak, shrimp and ribs. Fantastic.

So Chris calls me at 7:06PM tonight and asks if I can do his fantasy baseball draft for a 2nd league he’s in. Who am I to say no to a baseball draft during fantasy baseball weekend? Hell yeah I’ll do it. So I get in there and it’s the 4th round. Already drafted Soriano, Cabrera and CLee. Let’s do this!

3 hours later and everything had sunk in. The draft was done and I had some idea of what happened. The draft itself took just shy of 2 hours; not bad. I wouldn’t care if it went 3 though. People need to stop complaining when people use their full allotted time to make a pick. All the planning and knowledge in the world can’t prepare you for a completely random draft. That’s what the time’s there for. Anyway, here’s my 2007 Fantasy Baseball Team for Mike Tyson’s Punch Out (ID# 23345). As always, I’m not completely happy with it, but I say that every year. I took a lot of chances in this draft and I need to hope they pay off. I mean every year I take chances such as my 2005 team which ended up being awesome because I had Soriano and then a bunch of guys that blew up like Utley, Michael Young, Mauer, Crawford and Hafner. The staff wasn’t too bad either with Colon winning the Cy Young as my last drafted pitcher. Look at that team.
But this is 2007 and let’s go through this draft. I had my top 10 set as 1. Pujols, 2. Howard, 3. Reyes, 4. Arod, 5. Crawford, 6. Soriano, 7. Utley, 8. Ortiz, 9. Guerrero and 10. Cabrera. The actual draft sort of looked like that, only better for me. Santana went as I expected at 4 which opened up a world of possibilities. I got Arod first with the 5th pick and then managed to get Crawford at 16 with my 2nd pick. 2 in my top 10. Can’t be too angry at that. I mean if Santana didn’t go 4 and Arod went instead, I was gonna have trouble pulling the trigger on Crawford at 5 and probably would have went Soriano or Utley. I didn’t really want Soriano and 5 is too early for Utley. It all worked out though.
Looking at it, Crawford has to be my favorite pick of my draft at 16. I mean the man’s AVG has been improving every year and he’s now batting above .300, his power #s are climbing and he’ll still swipe about 50 bases. My least favorite pick of the draft? My 4th round with Furcal. I’m not a Furcal fan but Young went right before and I wanted a top tier guy at that position. It was probably a mistake taking him that early but I wanted a SS by round 4 and that was what was left.
All in all, I need some help. I need some players to develop and some to bounce back to form. Time to see how this whole thing plays out. It’s a long season boys and girls. See you in October.

I saw 300 on Saturday afternoon and despite hearing nothing but bad reviews, I was incredibly happy with what I saw, got exactly what I wanted out of the movie and felt it was well worth the wait. It was a damn good movie. The battle scenes were awesome, the other stuff was good, the awesome battle scenes took up like 85% of the movie which was awesome and it ended awesomely. I don’t really feel like discussing the battle scenes in detail but there was so much energy during them that you can’t help not fall in love with it. And despite hearing about bad acting, I thought everyone did just fine. Leonidas was an awesome King, but I guess the Spartans as a whole were an impressive people. This was such a better movie than Troy was. I can’t say that it was better than Gladiator because, well hell, it’s Gladiator, but pound for pound I’d put its entertainment value up against anything. I was excited for this movie for a while, and it’s only March, but this might just end up being the best movie of the year. These summer blockbusters have a lot of work to do. I’m talking to you Silver Surfer.

I haven’t posted in a while. Why not? Because I spend like every waking moment thinking about baseball. I spend all day between ESPN.com, Phillies.com and CNN.com (I gotta break it up a little). I wake up and then it starts. When’s the draft? So I look it up. Sweet. So I read some baseball news to see what’s going on. A few hours later… when’s the draft? And the cycle repeats itself. I do throw in some NFL news because for some reason ESPN will not let us forget that the NFL is in fact still in existance between the constant front page coverage and NFL Live which is still on a month after the season is over.
Anyway, you may be thinking that I need to calm down about the draft, it’ll get here when it gets here. However I can’t help thinking that I have a horrible memory problem and should most certainly remember when the draft is after about the hundreth time of looking. Good thing is though, I’m starting to come around. As I read more and more baseball news, and as it gets closer to the season, it’s getting much easier to remember how quickly everything is coming up. Plus we now have 9 people in the league and are only waiting for 1 more person to join.
A little over 18 days and 10 hours to go for the draft and then only like 7 more days after that until the season starts. Then we’ll have baseball on TV for like 2 weeks before ESPN pulls it again for retarded programming that no one wants to watch and I get angry but can do nothing so I’m stuck watching Stat Tracker at all times to get baseball updates. That’s how it goes I guess.
