Gotta love last week’s fantasy rant midway through this week’s games. That’s dedication holmes. Well, I won again. Pretty good week up and down. It was going terrible until I made 2 weeks ago’s fantasy rant midway through last weeks games and everyone turned it on like a light. I was bashing Brees and Ryan and then they turned it around. Ryan Grant had another good game and Chris Johnson is… well Chris Johnson. Only bad thing was that Reggie Wayne couldn’t find the end zone. Sure I had a tough decision to make whether I should start B Wells or T Hightower but it didn’t turn out that bad. I went with Hightower and he only lost by 2 points so I hardly lost sleep over it. In the end it was a 167 point week… I finished 1st by .18 points… and my lead jumped up to like 230 points or something. I can almost see the finish line at this point. Or can I?
P.S. I’m not Nostradamus. It’s just that most of week 12’s fantasy numbers are already in.

I love a good commercial. I can’t get this song out of my head once it’s on TV. I don’t care about the burgers… never even been to the fast food dining establishment… but I do love the commercial and the song.

I was in San Diego last week for the Eagles game against the Chargers so I really have no idea what happened in football other than the final numbers. I guess the end result is all that really matters though in fantasy football. I had another good week thanks to Reggie Wayne and Chris Johnson once again. It seems like they can bail me out whenever anything bad happens… say for instance like when your 2 QBs only put up 30 points total. Mother effers these guys are. Drew Brees sure isn’t performing like a 1st round pick and I’ve completely lost hope in Matt Ryan. Same story every week. I just hope Ryan’s playing this crappy when the Falcons play the Eagles. Yeah right… we all know the Eagles bring out the best in anyone who’s slumping or just plain crappy. Case in point? I saw first hand that the Eagles D got lit up consistently from the Chargers offense, more specifically from the aging, slumping, LT. During the 1st half it seemed like they couldn’t stop a thing and it showed with the 1 whole point they were able to get me. Oh, and I sure miss Owen Daniels. Vernon Davis was on fire before Daniels went down. Since I’ve needed him he hasn’t been doing much. Looks like my TE position has returned to the way it used to be in year’s past. I have just short of a 200 point lead now with 7 weeks to go and boy does it look like I’ll need it. A bunch of other teams are coming on strong and my team looks like it could break at any moment.

See people, I told you I could lose at fantasy football. A just above average fantasy week has let 2nd place catch me by almost 3 points and let 3rd place catch me by almost 44 points. 44 points! A few more of those and I’m toast. There’s still a lot of football left to be played… And dammit Drew Brees and Matt Ryan, you had better get your acts together. I mean a bad Drew Brees week still got me 18 points however that is not first round pick, elite QB status. I expect 30 points from him every week and he hasn’t done that in quite some time. And Matt Ryan who started off the season pretty hot has cooled down so much he is definitely worthy of that Matty “Ice” status. He better start doing something because he barely got into double digits this week. It’s getting worse each week. It was a bad week all around though. Neither WR found anything as my TE outscored both of them combined and he didn’t even find the end zone. Luckily the RBs bailed me out this week, especially Chris Johnson in another monster performance and Ryan Grant against his soft TB matchup. Just when I started feeling comfortable with my 150 point lead, my team had to go and bring me back to Earth. Still, no changes to be made at this point. The guys just gotta produce.

Oh well… Life goes on. Still, I liked last year’s season ending phone calls a whole hell of a lot better. If last year didn’t happen, I would probably be pretty devastated right now. However, 27 years as a Philadelphia sports fan has taught me very well that you can’t win em all. Hell, it taught me you can’t win any of em… until you do. After all the fun we had last year, I never even thought it was possible that we could go for it again. Ironically, it wasn’t until we won a couple against the Yankees in NY early in the season that the thought even popped into my head. Then with all the bullpen issues we’ve had since then, that idea dissipated to the point where I wasn’t even sure we’d win the division. So I guess this whole postseason run should probably have all been gravy. I mean winning the division 3 years in a row and winning the NL 2 years in a row would have made Spring 2007 Me question everything I thought was possible. 3 seasons ago when the Mets collapsed and we first took the division, it was hard to know what to expect. Then when they did it again, this time seemingly as a team of destiny, you knew you had something special. Now, I have a couple of 2008 World Series Champion t-shirts commemorating a team that I love, a team that plays hard every day and a team that is still in a really good position to fight for our division and league championships next year while trying to win back what is rightfully theirs, a World Series Championship. Remember this day Phillies fans. It doesn’t sting nearly as much as ‘93. You now know anything’s possible. We CAN get back and we CAN win it all. Just ask those 2007 Boston Red Sox who had a really good team and just took a couple of years off before winning their trophy back. It’s now November. Pitchers and catchers report in just over 3 months. Until then, I’ll leave you with your regularly scheduled programming.
And remember… we’ll always be the only World Fucking Champions.

Not much doing this week. I could have had one of those epic 180 pointers but for some reason, Drew Brees hasn’t been at his elite level the last few weeks and Matt Ryan has really been struggling over the same time span. Some more news; I lost Owen Daniels for the season. That’s fun. After 1 catch this week you lose the #1 TE who was producing like a WR for you. Oh well. Lucky for me, some how, some way, Vernon Davis, the #2 TE who is actually the #1 TE after week 8, was a free agent. I’ll take it happily and hope he can fill Owen’s shoes nicely. Luckily, that’s all the bad that happened this week. Brees put up 21 instead of the 30 I was hoping for, Ryan couldn’t crack 15 and Daniels got me less than 2 points. In the end I still got a very good 162 points and increased my lead over 2nd place to 171 points.
Some good news… all my bye weeks are done and Tim Hightower is scoring like every week so I think my job here is done. My lineup should be set from here on out and I can just sit back and watch this thing play out.
