The Perfect iTunes Mix

Music / Saturday, March 1st, 2014

Well done iTunes. There’s nothing better than when a “genius” iTunes mix just hits a random block of b-sides out of the park. Normally there are a few bad ones in a mix but on the super rare occasion that iTunes gets it completely right, it’s awesome. Of course these are bands you already like; obviously they’re on you’re iPod. But these are the songs that rarely get played. Somehow a list of 2 star obscurities, when put together correctly, can make a 5 star mix. This was the one I just got.

  1. Modest Mouse – A Different City
  2. Death Cab for Cutie – A Lack of Color
  3. Minus the Bear – Pachuca Sunrise
  4. The Pixies – Crackity Jones
  5. Silversun Pickups – Rusted Wheel
  6. Death Cab for Cutie – Grapevine Fires
  7. Franz Ferdinand – 40′
  8. Wintersleep – Nerves Normal. Breath Normal
  9. Modest Mouse – Dashboard

I would have never picked it but somehow it just worked. It breathes new life into the music that you have that just kind of got pushed to the side. These streaming services just can’t seem to do that yet. The iPod, even after all these years, is still relevant.
