Yesterday I spent 10 hours at the San Diego zoo and I still missed 5 or 6 out of the gagillion exhibits. That was always my main beef with the San Diego zoo from years back. It’s too big for its own good. It’s an amazing place, just very, very large. But I spent a good deal of time at all the key places. Especially the Galapagos Tortoises. Oh man do I want a pet Galapagos Tortoise. And I also spent a long time taking pictures of the hippo. He was awesome, all swimming around and sitting on rocks (ROCKS UNDERWATER FOR MINUTES AT A TIME) and stuff. And staring at me underwater while blowing bubbles out his nose.
Man, I love the zoo, but I don’t know what all this crap is about these friggin Pandas. Everyone’s all up in the panda’s grill like it’s the best animal to ever walk the Earth. These friggin animals aren’t dying because they’re getting shot. They’re dying because someone, somewhere on the planet, is shooting a gun. They are the most feeble creatures I have ever seen. You walk through their habitat and the things are sleeping. You can’t make any loud noises as you walk through, single file may I add, or else they might just drop dead and fall out of the tree or something like that. It’s ridiculous. I like stuff like the black rhino. That MF’er eats pieces of shit like the panda for breakfast. And elephants. I think I’m just a fan of all the animals that make me feel not like a fat ass. And I’m pretty sure I can run faster than the Galapagos tortoise so that’s always a plus.
I forget all the other animals I saw yesterday. Most of them all looked the same. Different types of gazelles and other deer like creatures, and pigs and warty pig type creatures. But they had orangutans, another Brett favorite. Anyway, 10 hours at the San Diego Zoo was fun and not nearly enough time. I need to go back. Lucky for me, I got a membership and can go back any time I want over the next 14 months. I got a student membership because my Penn State ID doesn’t expire until 12/31/07, and it saved me like 30 bucks. The student yearly membership for the Zoo and the completely separate Wild Animal Park was $32 as opposed to the single day Zoo ticket price of… $32? I knew going to college would one day help me out in life.
