Ok guys, 2 weeks from tonight, September 8th, the NFL season starts. As of right now, our Yahoo! Fantasy Football Draft will be on Saturday, September 3rd at 9:30am PDT. That’s 12:30pm for most of you. If that’s really an impossible time, we can re-evaluate our situation, however as of the time that I set the draft time, that was the only time available on the latest date before the season started time time time. The league # is 109894. You all know the password. If you don’t, I might have to think about letting you in the league. Or just IM me and I’ll get it to you. Game time, huh!

As requested, here is the long awaited post on Panda. I wasn’t going to post it because I didn’t think it would be funny coming this late, but I’m going to post it anyway because it is something I would like to remember about my trip. I think it would also make a good movie. So picture this, Kristin and I are driving home from San Diego. When it comes time to eat, I decide I don’t want to eat something regular like McDonalds, I want something different. Something that’d really hit the spot. ::cue fictional commercial in my mind:: I want Panda Express. I don’t know exactly where one is, I just know that we passed one on the way to San Diego, so we must pass one on the way back. At that time, I didn’t know if we had already passed it though. Anyway, we’re passing exit after exit, restaurant after restaurant. Exits are running out and soon we’ll be on about 125 miles of nothing but highway. It’s one of those, you had better make sure you have enough gas or else you’re screwed, kinda places. So we’re almost at the last town before that stretch and I refuse to eat anything, and Kristin just wants to eat McDonalds because they’re everywhere. So we hit what I think was the first exit in Barstow, CA, and there she is, glowing in the sunset, the Panda Express sign. We quickly exit I-15, get to Panda, and I eat and it’s glorious. Neil Patrick Harris was there and… Wait no he wasn’t. Anyway, then Kristin drives across the highway to the McDonalds which can be found at every exit along the entire drive. After we’ve eaten, we restart our journey home because we still have way over 2 hours left in the drive. However, as we’re leaving Barstow, I look off to the side of the road at the last exit before nothingness and what do I see??? A 2nd Panda Express no more than 5 miles away from the other one, in the same zip code nonetheless. If I could get mad at a place with 2 Panda’s, I just might think about it. But I can’t. Panda Express is great. Panda bears suck.

I haven’t posted anything in the last few days because my blog has been down, but this one cannot wait. Why isn’t there a free 24 hour porn station? We have a few 24 hour news stations, a couple more 24 hour sports stations, some 24 hour “music” stations, a 24 hour comedy station, tons of 24 hour movie stations and more 24 hour crap stations than I can ever watch, but we have no 24 hour adult stations. What the hell is wrong with this country where a man can spend upwards of $100 a month on all kinds of hi-def digital cable with premium stations and dvr functionality and even cable internet access, but he can’t turn on the tv for some guaranteed titties. I really think there’s something wrong here.

Yesterday I went to Taylor which is about a 20 minute drive from inner city San Diego. I toured the factory and realized that I really want my Taylor. Now I just gotta go buy it this month. But now there’s no doubt. The factory was neat. Except for the one sign that said something about California law and having to tell us that there are chemicals in the air that are known to cause cancer. Coulda probably done without that. But I don’t work there, I just play the guitar. Still, I think they should really do something about that.
After the factory, we headed back to the zoo. We were only supposed to be there for like an hour, but we ended up being there for almost 3 more hours. We had to redo a few sections because these stupid animals do nothing but sleep. But it was all worth it because I saw a baby lynx hunt a bird and a mouse. He wasn’t too good at it though. He stalked it pretty good but he wasn’t decisive enough. I think he wanted to catch both. He should definitely keep practicing. Then we hit the polar bears again and they were actually not hidden. After that we found a whole new section of the zoo we didn’t realize was there. And then we hit the last stuff we missed yesterday. 3 hours. Wow. That means I spent like 13 hours in the zoo over 2 days. And it was glorious.
After that, we headed to Coronado Island which I had no say in. Didn’t want to go there. It seemed like it was a vacation resort for the really rich people. Kinda like a Cape May or a Stone Harbor. I was just so exhausted because I have still not caught up to my lack of sleep after my grave shift on Thursday night and then we have been walking around for like 12 hours a day.
Today I’m heading to the Wild Animal Park and then I’ll be heading back home. Hopefully I’ll be home by 8 or 9 tonight so I can get to sleep for day shift tomorrow. Booooooooooo.

Yesterday I spent 10 hours at the San Diego zoo and I still missed 5 or 6 out of the gagillion exhibits. That was always my main beef with the San Diego zoo from years back. It’s too big for its own good. It’s an amazing place, just very, very large. But I spent a good deal of time at all the key places. Especially the Galapagos Tortoises. Oh man do I want a pet Galapagos Tortoise. And I also spent a long time taking pictures of the hippo. He was awesome, all swimming around and sitting on rocks (ROCKS UNDERWATER FOR MINUTES AT A TIME) and stuff. And staring at me underwater while blowing bubbles out his nose.
Man, I love the zoo, but I don’t know what all this crap is about these friggin Pandas. Everyone’s all up in the panda’s grill like it’s the best animal to ever walk the Earth. These friggin animals aren’t dying because they’re getting shot. They’re dying because someone, somewhere on the planet, is shooting a gun. They are the most feeble creatures I have ever seen. You walk through their habitat and the things are sleeping. You can’t make any loud noises as you walk through, single file may I add, or else they might just drop dead and fall out of the tree or something like that. It’s ridiculous. I like stuff like the black rhino. That MF’er eats pieces of shit like the panda for breakfast. And elephants. I think I’m just a fan of all the animals that make me feel not like a fat ass. And I’m pretty sure I can run faster than the Galapagos tortoise so that’s always a plus.
I forget all the other animals I saw yesterday. Most of them all looked the same. Different types of gazelles and other deer like creatures, and pigs and warty pig type creatures. But they had orangutans, another Brett favorite. Anyway, 10 hours at the San Diego Zoo was fun and not nearly enough time. I need to go back. Lucky for me, I got a membership and can go back any time I want over the next 14 months. I got a student membership because my Penn State ID doesn’t expire until 12/31/07, and it saved me like 30 bucks. The student yearly membership for the Zoo and the completely separate Wild Animal Park was $32 as opposed to the single day Zoo ticket price of… $32? I knew going to college would one day help me out in life.

So I made it to San Diego last night. Drove what felt like 30 hours even though it was only like 5 and some change. I got here after 8 and just wandered around town. It was pretty crappy. Aside from A LOT of great eye candy, and when I say great, I mean some of the best eye candy I have ever seen, it was all trendy people going into trendy bars, probably drinking trendy drinks. I didn’t want anything to do with it. So we woke up and walked around town when all the trendy people were sleeping. There was still a lot of good eye candy. This town is amazing. Anyway, we walked like 5 miles around town and stuff and it was a good afternoon. Then tonight we went to the Phillies game. It was definitely one of the best Phillies games I’ve seen. First off, there were tons of Phillies fans in the park. Then Padilla took a 1-0 lead into the 8th. But then Uuuuugueth Urbina walked two and eventually blew the lead. 1-1 in the 9th and the Phillies actually decided to pull through. Bobby Abreu of all people led off the inning with a base hit. Somehow they managed to score 4 in the 9th. All the Padres fans were streaming out after every run. All that was running through my head was “This is Ron Burgandy saying *@ You San Diego”. I just couldn’t do it without Tim and Christian by my side. Then we were leaving and there were tons of Phillies fans hanging around just having a good time. We weren’t heckling anybody, we were just happy since we were 2500 miles from home, and our team won. But the San Diego fans were being asses. Then some guy in a TO jersey taped the Owens over with tape and wrote “Rat Bastard” over it. Funny shit. It was a good day overall. The Phillies never win away games when I’m there. Definitely a good day.
