Being as we’re all going a little crazy waiting for the fantasy football draft which is in exactly 18 days, 13 hours and 10 minutes from now, I set up our ESPN Gridiron Challenge league. Figured we should keep this one going. A little looser and a little more relaxing. The group is Terententen Sports Talk and the password is you know what.

About 10 minutes ago, the journey finally ended and Barry Bonds hit his 756th career home run, finally surpassing Hank Aaron as baseball’s all time home run champion. It came in the bottom of the 5th inning off of the Washington National’s Mike Bacsik. Ball 1 up and away, ball 2 down low, strike 1 down the middle, strike 2 fouled away, ball 3 down and away, then another pitch fouled away and finally a 3-2 pitch muscled to center field.

When Barry passed Ruth, I was certainly not happy. However last season I finally came to terms with the fact that absolutely nothing was stopping Barry from passing Aaron; he was on a mission. So I came to terms with it. I accepted it. I’m a lifelong baseball fan and something big and exciting just happened in baseball. I didn’t leave after the strike and I’m not going anywhere after… or during… steroids. The all time home run records is the most hallowed record in all of sports and whether we like Barry or not, Barry’s hit a lot of home runs.

I’m really not sure what bothered me so much about this anyway. Ruth has always been my home run king and he wasn’t even the king when I was born. Not even close. It’s probably that I just don’t like change. It took me a while but I’m finally ready to give this record to Bonds. Records are meant to be broken and this one’s broken folks. We’ve had many different generations of baseball and there will always be tons of speculation about not only steroids, but lengthened seasons, segregation, park sizes, missed time due to wars, the talent pool, yadda, yadda, yadda. The one thing we can’t argue about though is the fact that 756 is larger than 755. That’s it.

I’m currently watching: MLB Baseball: Washington Nationals at San Fransisco Giants

I went to see it Saturday and it was as awesome as I expected. I mean 5 years ago I just happened to have a free movie that I had to use or I was going to lose it. I just happened to catch the Bourne Identity, a movie I had absolutely no desire to see, and loved it. Then when Supremacy came out 3 years ago and didn’t disappoint, I knew what I was getting with this film. Another awesome film to complete the trilogy. I can’t see there being any more of these movies, but that’s quite alright. They wrapped it up almost perfectly.

For those of you who haven’t seen these movies, and I know you’re out there, go see them. They are some of the best action movies ever. All 3 of them have to be very high on my list of just plain movies, let alone action movies. Not many movies grab a hold of me like this movie did, as I was practically out of my seat most of the movie and then laughing tons of other times, as Jason completely messed people up. What’s great about this character though is that he’s still human and very vulnerable. He’s a man’s man’s Bond.

And the rest of the performers are great too. Julie Stiles… well I just can’t complain about Julia Stiles. It’s just another really well done movie and that’s why it was probably my #1 most anticipated movie of the summer. With FF4, you didn’t know what you were gonna get, but with this one, it’s dead on greatness.
