Mars Volta – Frances The Mute

The Mars Volta’s new CD comes out on Tuesday and it’s at Circuit City for only $5.99; $6.99 at Best Buy. That observation will save you a dollar and that is why I hate Best Buy. They are no longer the better store. Circuit City has the majority of things cheaper than Best Buy, however no one realizes it because they’ve been seduced by Best Buy for so long now. Not me. I have broken free of the tyrannical Best Buy. Anyway, I myself will wait for Rob to get it and tell me how it is. Then I will pick it up. He saved me a lot of anger with Breaking the Cycle. So go pick up your Mars Volta with a copy of Jennifer Lopez’s new album which also comes out Tuesday. Hers is $10.

American Idol needs to stop.

I just heard a song from Fantasia, the one that won American Idol, but shouldn’t have. I have one request from you all. Go download this song and hear it just once. I’m not positive what it’s called, but after listening to it, it’s probably called something like Baby’s Mama or something like that. I just wanted everyone to be able to say they heard the worst song that has ever been made. Ever. And I’m not really sure this one will ever be topped. By hearing this song, everything else you hear in the future will sound great. So actually I’m doing you a favor in a way. Go get the song.

This just in.

I’ve done it. I’ve reinstated the side taskbar equipped with my infamous Guitar tool bar. That’s good news folks.

Man, I still miss the Flyers.

Interesting turn of events for the Sixers with the signing of Chris Webber. The Sixers have been playing decent ball lately, and Iverson is having an MVP year (knock on wood). The best news is the article says Iverson is estatic about playing with Webber, and if he can actually learn to play with another star, that would be amazing. He may just be growing up. I’ve been paying attention to basketball a little this year, but this move is actually getting me excited about the Sixers again. It’ll be interesting to see how this actually works out.

Sad, sad day.

4th and 2, 2:05 left in the 4th quarter. Browns are up by a field goal. This supreme defensive showdown has kept the scoreboard virtually quiet… the score is 13-10. Brett knows he must rally his Cardinals and make this crucial first down to keep the game alive. He calls upon his veteran, one of his most hated players of all time, but veteran nonetheless, Emmitt Smith. Emmitt, you’re gonna pound this ball with all your might. Just get the first down like you did against the Eagles so many times you bastard. The players come out of the huddle ready to continue their march down the field. Brett checks the defense, Emmitt is all set. The snap… shit, it’s the wrong play… I didn’t want to do that! RUN EMMITT, RUN!!! Emmitt breaks through the line and picks up close to 4 yards. YES! The drive lives on. Rob is now sweating profusely. Brett has gotten 2 first downs in a row and he knows McCown cannot be stopped. It’s only a matter of a few plays where Anquan “Superman” Boldin is gonna catch the winning touchdown just like he did to let the Cardinals pull within 3.

::WAITING FOR OPPONENT::

Wait! What is this? Tick, tock, tick, tock. The 17 seconds are dwindling down fast. Will Rob make it back to the game in time, or will it end this way? “NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!“, Brett cries in utter frustration and disappointment. Rob has pulled the plug… I cannot believe it. He heard the footsteps. He heard Boldin’s footsteps and it got too much. I just cannot believe it. “Hey Rob, lets rematch quick so I can kick your ass again.” Rob responds, “Nah man, I gotta go to work. I don’t have time for another game.” Yeah yeah, we’ve all heard it before. Well you’ll never see me dress in a Cardinals uniform again, because for those players, and this coach, the pain would be just too much to bear.

I come in to work tonight and see that I got the 6th day off I asked for. Now I can leave here on Friday, April 22, heading for Florida til the 24th, arrive in Philadelphia later than day, and leave Philadelphia on Sunday the 30th, and still not have to work until Monday at 11PM. That sounds mighty sweet. But wait. If I switch to day shift, all those plans go down the tubes. I will have to take off 6 days just to come home Friday and work Saturday morning, cutting my trip by 2 days and losing a whole day to catch up with time. I mean on top of this trip, I was planning on meeting my father in San Diego in August to see a Phillies game, but that’ll have to be scratched now because the game was on a Saturday and my weekend isn’t. This whole situation is getting crappier. Now what do I do?

New shift?

What should I do? There may be a day shift opening up in the next couple weeks. I mean there’s a bigger chance it’s not opening, well for me anyway, but it could still happen if the person right above me doesn’t take it first. If the time does come where I have to choose, should I change my shift? It would be 7AM – 3PM and I’d have off either Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday. I really can’t decide. In one hand, I’d move closer to joining the rest of civilization with normal hours, but then I’d lose my weekends. On the other hand, I really don’t have Friday night off right now anyway, I have Monday off. And I’m usually too tired on Saturday night to do anything since I don’t sleep when I get home from work. Right now the only time I’m not tired on my weekend is on Monday. But, that 7AM is mighty early. I figured it out, and I’d have to wake up at around 4:45AM so that I could make the approximate hour and 10 minute commute as opposed to my 35 minute commute I have now. I’d have to go to bed at 10:15PM just to get 6 1/2 hours. I’d also be around people once again which is another toss up, because workplace politics are lousy, but even though it’s nice being alone most of the time, it’s mighty boring at other times. There are other things but there are so many, I can’t think of them. I don’t know what I should do.

Hitch

So I haven’t done one of these in a while. This was the first time I have been to the movies since August. I saw Hitch. It was really good. Sorry, I’m a little rusty with my movie reviews. It woulda been an exceptional first date movie, but it was still a really good “Sunday night just missed the matinee so I had to spend $9, but I used my Penn State ID and only paid $8 (haha I’ll be ripping them off until 2007), but that’s still way too much since I spent $6.25 at my AMC theater in Philadelphia” movie. It was worth the money. Will Smith is awesome. Eva Mendes got really hot throughout the movie. Kevin James is a funny guy, and the plot was predictable yet refreshing. Just what I like in my movies… most of the time… this was one of those times. One thing I didn’t like though, is it takes place in NYC and makes it look like it’s all peaches and cream living in sweet ass apartments and having no bums around. They went jet skiing, clubbing every night, at one point, I didn’t see 1 car driving down a street for a few minutes, and this is somewhere in Manhattan. Will Smith had the life we all wanted and that made me mad, but aside from that, he is like James Bond cool with the ladies, and that is always cool. James Bond is cool, Will Smith is cool, this movie was cool.
