I never talked about seeing the Amazing Jonathan almost 2 weeks ago for my belated birthday. I’ve been real lagged on my review posts I guess. Anyway, Jonathan is hilarious, but we already knew that. He did almost everything he did in his Comedy Central show, however this show was about an hour longer so it was much more involved with a lot of hilarious new stuff. And unlike a comedian, he doesn’t just do comedy. He threw some sketches in there as well as his “magic”. That’s why he’s so great. Because he’s completely original. He had a lot of great new stuff that cracked me so constantly up. Our seats were great. Kristin got us VIP seating which put us in the front and ahead of all the lines, but we were late to the show so we were out of the area where he would make fun of you in. I did not want to be the person he brought up on stage. But oh man, would I love to be a Vegas comic. You probably make a load of money, well more than enough to live comfortably on, and you’re only at work like 3 hours a day/6 days a week. My only complaint was it was at the Riviera. I had never been in an old casino on the new strip (the ones past Treasure Island). Now I know why. It took practically 20 minutes to find the parking garage. Yes, I said the parking garage, not parking. Once I found the garage, I had to drive to the very top because it was such a small garage since it was built 50 years ago. Walking inside the casino was like walking into a time machine. I felt like it was 1970 in there. I don’t like 1970. I like 2005. But the show was great once we got to it, and that’s all that matters. I just will never go back to the Riviera unless I ever see the Amazing Jonathan again. Which I probably will. He’s a funny guy.

So yesterday we had a mandatory meeting at 2:00PM. This did not make me too happy. Luckily before I went home yesterday, my boss said I wouldn’t have to go to the meeting. That made me happy. Now I wouldn’t have to drive 45 minutes to work, stay at a meeting for 2 hours and then drive an hour and a half home in rush hour. Did I say I was happy? I was never so happy losing great overtime money. Anyway, this week someone is taking PTO so I have to work 6 days; one 8 hour day to make up for my 4 day week last week because someone asked me to switch with them, another 8 hour day, and then 4 nine hour days. Today I worked 10 1/2 hours. This post is boring. I’m done.

Holy shit. I just found out about something spectacular. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are playing a free show here in Vegas on July 2 and we somehow get the tickets on Monday at noon PT. Oh yeah. And Weezer is opening for them. It’s gonna be insane. I need these tickets. I think you get 4 free tickets, and they’re giving away 50,000, so I hope it is possible. I just don’t know where 50,000 people are going to be since it is a parking lot show. But it was in the paper this morning, and it’s now on Weezer’s website so it’s definitely real. Real awesome.

8,947. What is that? What is that you ask? Well it’s the number of MP3s I have. Why would you bring that up? This sounds bad. Yes, yes it does. I got that feeling again. The feeling that says, “Brett, get it together. And when I say it, I mean your MP3s.” Uh oh. That’s scary. But yes, I suddenly feel the need to straighten my MP3s again. And this time I’m for real. One standard naming and folder convention within one single directory. No more My Music, MP3s Pre Summer 01, MP3s Summer 01 on and Stuff I Don’t Listen To. Hell, I may just even delete that last directory. Nah. But then with it all straight and kept, I may even set it to back up bi-weekly. How’s that sound? Oh man, I’m making myself sick thinking about this. Who has time for a project like this? It’s gonna take months. So how should I do it? Track#-Artist-Album-Song.mp3 or just put Track#-Song.mp3 within Album within Artist? With such a daunting task ahead of me, I have to be sure to do it right. ::sigh::

I forgot to mention it, but on Saturday I got a letter in the mail. It was from the Penn State Alumni Association asking me for dues. My free year will be up May 31st. It’s almost been a friggin year, and to pour salt in the wounds, they’re asking for money. I would have rather paid the first year, and got a letter this year saying “Sorry you’ve been out of school for a year. Here’s a free year on us.” That woulda been much better. I still haven’t decided whether to go year by year or just do the lump sum thing. Chances are I’m gonna go the whole way anyway, so I might as well just get it over with while I have the cash.

I saw Fever Pitch last night and I’ll come right out and say that I don’t think it’s gonna become a classic sports movie. When we think about Field of Dreams, Rudy, Bull Durham, Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky IV, Dodgeball, we won’t ever group them with Fever Pitch. Maybe it wasn’t supposed to be a great baseball movie, actually, I highly doubt it. But what I do know is that they should have gotten a better writer because the movie could have been so much better. There was no continuity to the story at all, and it made the beginning of the movie, as well as the ending, not so hot. Normally I really like the comedies Drew Barrymore is in, but normally Adam Sandler plays her opposite. He is awesome. Jimmy Fallon should still be on SNL. He was good there. Movies not so good. Sandler wasn’t too good on SNL. Movies very good. There’s a difference. Anyway, I sat through the movie nauseous because through most of the story, Fallon was torn between the woman he loved and the team that he loved. I felt his pain. Not because I’ve ever really been there, but because I, as a man, just understood. You really have to see it to understand. It’s heartwrenching; especially the last 10 minutes. The movie was decent though. A really good date movie. Guys can relate and laugh a good bit, girls can relate and laugh a good bit. I was entertained the whole time. Everyone can be entertained the whole time. Jimmy Fallon is still a funny guy, and Drew Barrymore still has her looks and cuteness about her… that heroin/sex addict just waiting to come out sort of cuteness. And it’s still about baseball, so it can’t be that bad. I laughed… I cried (Well on the inside thinking about how the Phillies are never going to win a series.)… I will wait for HBO. And so should you.

Ok. I decided I was gonna get satellite radio a while back. Right now I spend about an hour a day on average in the car, and when I switch to day shift, I’ll spend close to 3 hours a day in the car. Then there’s the weekends when I do a good bit of driving. I’m tired of having nothing but commercials on, and when there is music on, I want to find new stuff to listen to, not the same 15 songs over and over again. So when I heard Howard Stern was going to Sirius, that sealed the deal for me. Right before Howard went, January 1st, 2006, I’d sign up. He’s all I listen to in the morning anyway. XM has Opie & Anthony, who I never listened to, but I heard they were great. They were the shock jocks who got thrown off the air a couple years back for being way worse than Stern was. A lot of comedians I like are friends with them, so I’d probably like them also. But now I find out that XM radio has an MLB package. I would get every Phillies game… period. They have better sports programming in general. They have ESPN Radio, ESPN News, Fox Sports, Sporting News and hey, even a Big Ten station. Sirius gets NFL, NBA, NHL and college bball. But then I guess I can’t, and probably won’t listen to sports news all the time. I watch that, so I shouldn’t decide past the MLB or NFL stuff. But the Phillies games; that’s golden. Both brands have the same stations music wise, a bunch of Rock stations spanning all decades, and a bunch of Rap and R&B; stations. Sirius on the other hand has Shade 45 which is Eminem’s station. Em just got G-Unit in on programming, so that station should be really good. I have heard the sound quality of Sirius is slightly better than XM, but they’re both digital so it can’t be that much better. Then they both cost the same, by the month as well as the year. I do think my car is already set up to receive XM so I’d just have to sign up. With Sirius, I’d have to go buy a receiver for a few hundred bucks. But I’d probably do that in the end with XM so I could listen in more places than my car. I don’t want to be chained down. In then end, I’ll probably go with Sirius, but it’s no longer a no brainer like I thought it was. Whatever I get, I can’t wait. Free radio sucks.

When I was home a couple weeks back, I saw Constantine at the sweet, sweet AMC Neshaminy 24. I have to say, the movie was one of the most f’ed up movies I’ve ever seen. I liked it. It was so strange and messed up at some points that I just couldn’t not like it. And the subject matter was good. I always like the movies that delve into the other side of religion. I really didn’t expect it to be the way it was with the scaryness and the deepness of the plot. I thought it was going to be mindless ghoul fighting and that’s that; sorta like a comic book since that’s what it’s based off of. However, if there is a comic book like this movie, I think I may have to start reading it because it would be awesome. Not really. I’m not spending all that money on comic books anymore. I don’t feel like writing anything else. I wrote most of this almost 2 weeks ago. I liked the movie. Check it out.
