Terententen’s All Growned Up

Man, I spent some time today looking through my archives and I can definitely sense a change in my attitude towards a lot of things since then. Maybe I’ve matured or maybe I’ve just been beaten down by life over the last 5 years but I said some things back then that were just jaw dropping…ly hilarious. I would never post stuff like that now though; I’m apparently nowhere near as bold as I once was. I may also know that some things are just better left unsaid. But boy, oh, boy this page used to be awesome. I mean things were just brutal. People like brutal honestly… at least I know my readers do but… wait a minute, I feel like I’m getting off track because maybe myself and some others were cracking up pretty good this afternoon reading those posts. But at whose expense? What I’m trying to say is that this site is over 6 years old, there’s a lot written in these pages and things that were said years ago may not be things that I personally agree with now no matter how humorous they still may be. So I’m just gonna remind you all that you need to take everything you see on Terententen with a grain of salt. I’m an entertainer people. That’s what I do. Ta da!

I played a House of Dead game the other day and I think I can safely say that this is the only logical progression to shoot em up video games.

Philadelphia Eagles NFL Draft 2009

So the 2009 NFL Draft has come and gone and almost every analyst that I’ve heard from over the last 2 days thinks the Eagles had an absolutely wonderful draft. Most of us all went into the draft praying for some way to get Anquan Boldin but that unfortunately didn’t happen. What did happen was the Eagles did things their way and after all was said and done, things don’t look too shabby. They got things going days before the draft by trading their 28th overall, 1st round pick for Buffalo LT Jason Peters. This is getting overlooked as it wasn’t a draft pick but it’ll certainly help Donovan sleep at night knowing his blind side is protected now that Tra is gone.

Also not in the list will be the addition of Patriots CB Ellis Hobbs which the Eagles acquired by trading 2 of their 5th round picks during the 5th round. This Sheldon Brown situation is retarded because Hobbs is making more money than Sheldon which is ridiculous to think about considering Sheldon is amazing. Why are they going to pay the 5′9 Hobbs more money? Why can’t they just pay Sheldon? Ugh! Let’s just get down to the actual picks:

Rd.1 (19): WR Jeremy Maclin – The Eagles traded up 2 spots for this pick and although he doesn’t really fit a need for this team, he’s a play maker who should make things exciting. I don’t think Andy will be able to sleep for months while coming up with some crazy plays to utilize Maclin alongside of our already very fast WR corps.
Rd. 2 (53): RB LeSean McCoy – He’s apparently very similar to Brian Westbrook so if he focuses on blocking he should be a great asset if Westy gets dinged up. This looks way better than taking Beanie Wells in the 1st.
Rd. 5 (153): TE Cornelius Ingram – We all wanted Pettigrew, and when the Eagles traded up in the 1st, we all thought it was happening, but instead the Eagles again looked to have made a good move by waiting til the 5th round to pick up what could be a very good TE. Celek is young and we can give him more time before spending a 1st round pick on a TE.
Rd. 5 (157): CB Victor Harris – Another CB to go along with Hobbs really makes this Sheldon Brown situation look bigger than I was hoping it was. I’m not ready to see our entire 2000’s secondary gone after they were such a spectacular bunch. We now have way too much depth at corner and something’s gotta give. I hope the Eagles have something good planned because we can’t wasted Sheldon’s talent like we wasted Lito’s.
Rd. 5 (159): T Fenuki Tupou – Andy sure does love O linemen.
Rd. 6 (194): WR Brandon Gibson – Even if we’re lucky enough to cut Reggie Brown, we still have too many WRs now with DeSean, Curtis, Avant, Baskett and Maclin. This will be fun to watch in camp.
Rd. 7 (213): G Paul Fanaika – Yep, Andy sure does love O linemen.
Rd. 7 (230): LB Moise Fokou – LB was the last thing on the Eagles need board and they went out and got one with their last pick. It’s a definite we’ll see. Rashad Jennings was on the board at this time but the Eagles must be confident enough with the Leonard Weaver free agency pickup to forgo getting a big RB in the draft.

Huggybear and Friends

Huggybear and FriendsThe day that many never thought would come is finally here. Huggybear and Friends was officially released yesterday and all songs were opened up for download over at Huggybear and Friends on Last.FM. I hope everyone who hasn’t already heard the album enjoys it. It’s been a long time coming. Over 4 years to be exact. It took months to write, months to produce and years to stop being lazy and just wrap the project up. So certainly get over to Last.FM and give it a listen, get over and friend Huggybear and Friends on Myspace and become a fan of Huggybear on Facebook.

And of course for you music aficionados who want more than a digital copy of the album, we haven’t let you down. If you’re interested in a physical copy of the CD, let me know. Very limited quantities are available.

It’s rare that something on SNL is really funny any more but for some reason I keep on watching. Maybe it’s because once in a while you’ll get a guest that will give you a gem like this one.

Sorry for the forced commercials but I thought the sketch was worth it. Just don’t buy anything you see in them. That’s my motto.

Harry Kalas: 1936 – 2009

Harry KalasLast Wednesday I got to see Harry Kalas throw out the first pitch at the Phillies ring ceremony game. It was a great day. The Phils got their hardware, the sun was shining, Harry threw out the first pitch and 7 innings later the Phils miraculously came from behind to win in World Champion fashion. Today, unfortunately, the sun isn’t shining so brightly… Our beloved announcer Harry Kalas passed away this morning at the age of 73.

Harry was about to do what he did best. He arrived at Nationals Park ready to call another game. He would have called another Phillies victory… A victory I believe he eventually willed them to.

Luckily for me I got to hear him call a few more games last week while I was back in Philly. I don’t know what that next baseball game will sound like and I’m not particularly looking forward to it. However I know we’ll always have that voice in the back of our heads each and every time we see another Phillies home run… “Swing…and a long drive, watch this baby, outta here! Home run Ryan Howard”.

Harry will be greatly missed.
