Lee's Beer Experience, 3rd Annual

Almost 2 years ago, over the course of a particular 4 hour period, I achieved Nirvana. Many since have heard me retell this experience and I know there's a particular someone who doesn't really appreciate it when I call it the greatest day of my life. That event was the Hops beer tasting and I have been waiting for it to come back ever since. However, September 2008 came and went and I never heard anything about the return of Hops. Then about 3 months ago on a beer run to Lee's, I saw a flyer for the 3rd Annual Lee's Beer Experience. It was to be on May 30th, 2009 at the Hilton and although I was scared that it could never live up to it's Hops brethren, we were gonna give it a shot.

Well I'm here to say, the 3rd Annual Lee's Beer Experience did not disappoint. It was exactly like Hops, perhaps because I think Lee's had their hand in Hops to begin with, but on a larger scale. The thing was huge which is actually my main complaint about the event. There were just so many people there, you couldn't move. It was difficult to get to the tables to taste the beers and it was almost impossible to get any food when they brought it out to one of the 4 food stations. People literally ran to the stations and if you weren't waiting at the station, you had no chance to get anything to eat. I swear fights almost broke out for sandwiches.

Anyway, you can most certainly expect me at the 4th annual experience. Despite the amount of people there and the scarcity of food, the amount of beer was the reason you go to a beer festival. The beer was top notch and this year there was a major plus over the Hops festival. They realized the only thing better than getting served an abundance of cold beer is getting served a cold beer by smoking hot chicks in really tight shirts and short skirts. It was like a damn Mensa meeting in that place with the amount of brains these women had. They were all REAL smart. Regardless, this beer experience was good but not quite great. If they could somehow figure out how to fix the issues I discussed above, it may be able to reach greatness status. Despite everything though I still can't wait for next year's Experience.

Mint Chocolate Chip

Whenever I look at, or think about, Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, I think I don't like it. It's never until it's the only ice cream around and I'm forced to eat it when I realize that I actually do like it. A lot. I think. This post is pointless.

Hops and barley, barley and hops. Das boot.

Ok, so think about your favorite thing in the whole world. Cake, chocolate, waking up at noon on a warm summer day with a cool breeze blowing through your hair and your little puppy Skip licking your face, chocolate cake, beer... alright, we'll go with beer. Well now imagine a festival. A beer festival so to speak. A festival where there's endless amounts of beer poured until your body just can't stand it. When you think you've had enough beer, there's still more beer to try. 150 different types of beer to be exact. Think you're in heaven yet? Well you are. Tonight I was at HOPS The Official Beer Tasting of Las Vegas and it was simply magical. Words cannot describe an event like this. One of the most depressing moments of my life would have been when the festival was over, except the fact that I was too trashed to care. It was 4 hours of trying new beers. 4 hours... new beers... and there was food too. At this time I cannot tell you which were my favorite. I know Spaten was the first beer I had and it was definitely one of the best. Tomorrow I'll go over the list and decide, but for now I'll sleep happy knowing that moments in your life like this do exist and I'll await next year's festival like it's a 2nd Christmas day because, well yeah, moments like this do exist. The thing started at 3 and I was probably drunk by 4:30. And by 7 I was so long gone and it only sucks because there was so much good beer there that I completely missed out on getting seconds. All I know is Lee's and Whole Foods carries every beer ever made so for the next year of my life I'll be hopefully heading to those places to try and recapture this life changing event. Das boooooot!

Apparently life sucks.

I just thought of something very disturbing. I haven't been drunk in a mighty long time. I can't even remember when. So sad. I think the last time I even went out drinking was like months ago actually. Still can't remember the date, I just know I didn't even get drunk that night. I just looked up when I think the last time I went out and got drunk was. Saturday, October 28th. That was a hell of a long time ago. So sad. To make life better, here's a picture of Katherine Heigl. A reason life doesn't suck.

Back from Philadelphia

I posted about the mixes before I posted about being back from Philadelphia. I got back Monday night. I had a good time. I got there at like 7 something Friday morning and was at John's eating a steak before 9AM. I was cold outside but glorious inside. Then I went home, relaxed, napped, woke up and went to Steve's for another steak. Then I went to Kristin's family's Christmas get-together where we exchanged gifts, I got the Big Bad Levi Brown jersey you see me holding before you and then went home and went to bed. I then woke up at around noon and went to Steve's for yet another steak. So there you have it, the first 3 meals I had in Philadelphia were cheesesteaks. And I loved every minute of it.

Then later Saturday we went out to dinner for my Zeida's birthday. He turned 80.

Then Sunday the Eagles beat the Giants in most glorious fashion and made my whole weekend.

Then Monday I came home. The end.

Throwdown with Bobby Flay.

Got a show everyone should watch. I watched half last night and half tonight and it's painfull but fun TV. Throwdown with Bobby Flay on the Food Network did an episode where he competed against Tony Luke's in making a better cheesesteak. I know most of you have been to Tony Luke's now so it may be more interesting to you. Tony Luke's used to be my favorite until John's so I definitely had to be rooting for them. If it was Bobby against Geno's though, I'd been rooting for Bobby all the way. Those crappy cheeseteak places need to be exposed. You guys should try to catch it, it'll be on again on 10/22 at 4:00 PM, 10/22 at 11:00 PM and on 10/23 at 2:00 AM. Tivo it. I did and I'll watch it again to drive myself nuts.

John's Roast Pork is the Sony of steak sandwiches.

Yo! Philly cheesesteak wars sizzle again. I think everyone who reads Terententen knows how to handle this situation. Go to John's Roast Pork instead. These guys are fighting over a name, a silly little title, when then should be fighting John's for making the best sandwich in the world. Who cares if you're the grandson of the steak sandwich inventor; I mean I don't care who invented the TV all I know is I'm buying a Sony.
