Whenever I look at, or think about, Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, I think I don’t like it. It’s never until it’s the only ice cream around and I’m forced to eat it when I realize that I actually do like it. A lot. I think. This post is pointless.

It was at least 4-5 months ago when I started getting excited for the Olympics but so much else was happening this Summer, like the wedding and honeymoon, that it really turned into a Summer of anticipation. But July came and went and with it the wedding and honeymoon. It was okay. I only waited over a year for those things; and I had the Olympics to look forward to a few weeks afterward anyway.
2 weeks ago, the Olympics finally started. I watched so much Olympic coverage the last 2 weeks and I still couldn’t get enough. Swimming definitely consumed me, as well as the rest of the world, for the first week but there was so much other great stuff to watch around Michael Phelps. Regardless, today is the last day of the Olympics on TV. They’re showing everything that happened yesterday because, as I’ve come to live with, nothing’s ever live. Except for the Men’s Basketball gold medal game. I was actually able to watch that live last night at 11:30PM. Great game.
By the way. As I’m typing this, women’s group rhythmic jumprope? gymnastics is on. When on Earth did this become a sport? I looked it up, it’s called Five Ropes. Never heard of it. Wait, what the hell is this? Now they’ve replaced ropes with hula hoops? It’s called Three Hoops + Two Clubs. They give out gold medals for this crap? People in China live off of rice and they’re wasting precious medals on 5 girls that can throw hula hoops around a mat?
Anyway, now I guess the Summer is officially over. The closing ceremony will be on tonight, kids are back in school tomorrow, traffic is bad again in the morning and TV shows will be starting up in a few weeks. And I think there’s some election coming up soon for some government role. I had more to write about here but that rhythmic gymnastics stuff really hurt my head and I can’t think of what I was going to say. I guess I’ll leave on that note. Only 2 more years til Vancouver. Then we get to watch curling on Tuesday at 3:18AM. Hey, at least it’ll be live, right?

Ok, maybe I spoke too soon and jinxed our team. They got handled last night from swimming to gymnastics to everything else. Wasn’t a great night. Maybe Michael Phelps is just our life force and with him not going for any medals, our team just gave up hope. Not a good showing.

Alright, I’ve been practically watching nothing but the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing since the Friday night opening ceremony. I love the Olympics. Can’t get enough of them. I’ve always been fascinated by the spectacle that is the Olympic games, be it Summer or Winter. However I just made a Twitter regarding the diving events and the way it’s been turning out for the American divers that goes something like this,
“I swear, the Olympic diving judges are Communist loving America haters. I wouldn’t let them into the country ever. That’s just my opinion.”
It was right after I made that statement when I realized that it doesn’t just seem to hold true to only diving. We’re also getting hosed in the gymnastic competitions that are held up to the judges scores. Completely hosed. Maybe I don’t know enough about anything regarding to diving or gymnastics, but I do know that the scores just don’t seem to be fair. When 2 teams both do a crappy dive, the scores should be about the same and when 2 teams do something good, the scores should be about the same. It just doesn’t seem to work like that this year.
It could be because I’m a whiny American, but if you agree with that, you’re probably a Communist and should either leave America or not be allowed in. The only events the Americans are winning at the moment are the timed events and the other events where we physically beat down opponents. And in those events, we’re not just winning, we’re physically beating down opponents. It’s great. But something just doesn’t seem right here with the way judges are scoring us. I don’t like them. They should care about my opinion, take it into consideration and just do it… whatever it may be. And it in this case, it, is give us justified higher scores.
