Chrome’s the Word

Don’t you know that Chrome is the word?
I have officially switched over to Google Chrome. I tried it when it first came out but wasn’t impressed enough to make the switch. Maybe I didn’t give it a good enough chance. Then a couple weeks ago Taylor suggested that I re-evaluate the browser so I gave it another shot. I kept the Firefox icon on my quicklaunch bar because it’s so hard to part ways with something that you’ve been using for so many years. I mean a web browser isn’t just something you use… the way I’m on the Internet, it’s as much a part of my lifestyle as my car. Actually more. I spend way more time on it and it gets me way more places. However, after becoming completely fed up with Firefox’s bloat, I’ve finally decided that I’m not going back. Every time I accidentally open up Firefox I am reminded why I’m sticking with Chrome. It takes forever for Firefox to open just so that I can close it. Incredibly annoying. I have deleted the shortcut from my quicklaunch bar just to avoid dealing with the annoyance. Chrome runs so quickly it’s ridiculous. Sure it’s taking some getting used to but I’m pretty sure I’ve been way happier since I made the switch.

Now if I could only make the permanent switch to Gmail, I’d be completely under the Google empire. I tried that change a couple months ago but switching an email address is a way more complicated switch to make. I just sort of gave up. Any tips from anyone on making that change would be helpful. There are an awful lot of places that have my old email addresses scattered all over the web. Hey, at least I know that Chrome will get me to those places rather quickly now.

Update at 6:30PM – I had to go and give it the evil eye. I found my first Chrome hate… There’s no warning before closing multiple tabs. I’ve done it twice tonight now. Uh oh.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand

Right now the pinnacle of my weekly TV watching goes something like Lost, Chuck and Fringe. Lost unfortunately… devastatingly… and even more devastatingly… only has 9 hours left. Then when that series is finished, the other 2 will sit very securely at the top spots. After those 3, as far as non sitcoms are concerned, it’s fair game. I have to tell you though, Spartacus: Blood and Sand on Starz is quickly climbing the ranks to the top of my TV ladder.

I don’t have Starz but I’ve been watching the series on Netflix each week. It started off as something I was kind of interested in but the first couple episodes didn’t necessarily blow me away. I kept watching it because I had just gotten Netflix and I could. However, it is now something I look forward to each week. After the last few weeks, I really look forward to it. Spartacus, like Lost, is completely unpredictable. Case in point, tonight’s episode gave me a punch in the stomach feeling I haven’t felt since Mr. Eko was suddenly killed on Lost. I was floored.

Hottest College Girl ’10

Do you love hot chicks? Well you’re here so there’s a very good chance you do. Therefore I’m here to spread the word that it’s March Madness time and that inevitably means that College Humor’s Hottest College Girl ’10 competition is going on. Get over there and create your fantasy bracket, then make sure you go back on April 6th to vote your selections through. Good luck. There are some tough choices to make. However, if you love hot chicks you have no excuse for not participating. It’s the fun of a March Madness bracket combined with the fun of looking at hot chicks. It’s the best of both worlds. Wait, there’s even money involved. It’s the best of all three worlds!

2010 NCAA Tournament Day 4

Didn’t think the weekend would end like this. West Virginia -6, check, Cornell +4, super check, Texas A&M -1.5?…

It had to come down to the final seconds of the final game of the weekend. It just had to. At halftime, Texas A&M had this game in the bag. Up by 7, seemed to be in control. Then they played the 2nd and it all went south. They were down by at least 5 in the 2nd but tied it up in the end and managed to get the game into OT. They even had the lead in OT but just couldn’t finish. This is almost exactly like my Tourney Day 2 post. Purdue screwed us 2 times this weekend, yet this one was far closer and way worse. Regardless, it’s done. It’s over. It still has to be considered a successful weekend but 60 minutes ago it was so much better. I got some extra special money in my pocket now but you should always have more. That’s gambling. That’s why I don’t do it. ‘Til we meet again first weekend of March Madness. Once again you were an admirable foe.

2010 NCAA Tournament Day 3

Guy… do I love money? You know I do. Day 3 started like any other. 1 and done thanks to Butler. It was exciting in the end but Butler just didn’t care enough to cover. Hell, they barely cared enough to win. We were so hype on Kentucky and Kansas State though that we couldn’t let that go to waste so we threw them back on, this time with Washington. Oh yeah? You saw how that turned out? You love money too? Washington straight dominated New Mexico running circles around them up and down the floor and scoring at will. It was a heck of a performance. Then came K-State and Kentucky. Even knowing how good Kentucky was and even more so how bad Wake was, I still didn’t expect the 30 point drubbing they laid on. I expected maybe 15… 20… but 30? It was a typical Kentucky performance. Then came K-State vs. BYU. BYU jumped out REAL quick and Kansas had already pulled a Kansas so you instantly start thinking that maybe it’s something in that Kansas water? By halftime though it seemed that K-State had this one under control and with 10 minutes left to play you started feeling comfortable. That is until the refs decided to start trying to hand the game to BYU. If you so much as breathed on Fredette or any other BYU player for that matter it was a foul. Meanwhile K-State players had to show knife wounds in order to get the call. It made it scary but in the end BYU couldn’t overcome what was just an incredible performance from Jacob Pullen. K-State covered and I won. I won da money. Da money is mine. Again. It was a good night.

What I’m watching: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

I went to the Monte Carlo breakfast buffet this morning which is now a much more expensive Champagne brunch. Here’s how it went down:

  • Plate 1: 5/6th of a cheese omelet with mushrooms, peppers, olives, tomatoes, spinach and shrimp; 2 pieces of bacon; 3/4th piece of breakfast sausage; scoop of hashbrowns; 1 hash brown patty; 3/4th a biscuit
  • Plate 2: 2 halves of french toast; 3/4th of a waffle; 2 more pieces of bacon; syrup
  • Plate 3: Mini everything bagel; 2 ounces of lox; slice of tomato
  • Plate 4: 5 peeled shrimp, 3 crab legs
  • Plate 5: Scoop of sweet and sour chicken; scoop of Mongolian beef; scoop of kung pao shrimp; scoop of lo-mein; 1 vegetable spring roll
  • Plate 6: 1 glazed donut
  • I washed it all down with a cup of coffee and 3 glasses of OJ
  • Oh yeah, and finally a cherry on top

I think I won. How many calories is that? I don’t know. Quite frankly sometimes it’s better not to know.

What I’m watching: College Basketball: NCAA Tournament: Murray State vs. Butler

2010 NCAA Tournament Day 2

2 out of 3 ain’t bad. Unless you parlay. Xavier, check, Mizzou, check, Siena… ouch. They had this upset at the half and then they completely fell apart for most of the 2nd. They almost clawed back in but they were just down by too much at one point. Got it back down to 3 with a minute to play but couldn’t pull it off. They couldn’t keep their composure and when it really mattered they were taking erratic shots and just couldn’t get a board. Tough break.

2010 NCAA Tournament Day 1

SAN JOSE, CA - MARCH 18: Center A.J. Ogilvy #4 of the Vanderbilt Commodores reacts after being defeated by the Murray State Racers 66-65 in the first round of the 2010 NCAA menâ¬"s basketball tournament at HP Pavilion on March 18, 2010 in San Jose, California. (Photo by Jed Jacobsohn/Getty Images)Thank you Murray State out of Murray (which is obviously only a city), Kentucky. You boys did good. We had #13 Murray State over #4 Vanderbilt, #2 Kansas State -16 over #15 North Texas and #10 Saint Mary’s over #7 Richmond. At times, all nail biters, however check and mate. Our morning card was blown when we so foolishly though slumping #2 Nova could cover 17 points against #15 Robert Morris. That was an epic fail. They barely won let alone cover. It’s a shame too because the other 3 teams, BYU -5, Baylor and Kansas State -16 all came through. However it was all forgotten once Danero Thomas sank a 15-foot shot as time expired to give the Racers what may be the upset of the tournament. What a crazy finish. It’s why they play the games. It’s why we watch. It’s March Madness. I love money. This is only day 1. Here’s to loads more excitement.

On a side note, I could have put a picture of Danero Thomas up on the site but I chose to go with Vandy’s A.J. Ogilvy lying devastated on the floor after his defeat. I didn’t like the cut of his jib. He was trying to lose me money. That’s some bad jib.

Miss Brooklyn Decker

Brooklyn Decker from SI.comShe’s not the hottest SI girl and she was born in 1987 but as insane as that sounds I somehow have no problem with it. I don’t like to plaster this site with pictures of hot chicks but I’ll do it in honor of the new Terententen and also because this one’s by request. She’s this year’s SI swimsuit addition cover and she’s very, very attractive. I again remind you that she’s no Bar Rafaeli. Here’s Brooklyn.

Krusty: All right, now there can only be one Krusty in each territory, so I hope this works out. Tell me where you’re from.

Man 1: Georgia.

Texan 1: Texas.

Texan 2: Uh, Brooklyn.
